It's not ill, it's dying because of you fuckwits.
Honestly it's probably true. Just because it didn't break records or even do as well as the last game doesn't mean it didn't sell a shitzillion copies. I wonder how the next Treyarch game is going to do.
This is turning out to be more like what happened to Guitar Hero. Ran the franchise into the ground so quick that they ended the franchise afterwards. I just hope Treyarch delivers for the next game.
If the franchise crumbles, I hope the niche gets filled by twitch shooters. But for that to happen consoles need to get mouse support.
I want Unreal Tournament to make a triumphant return.
UT, Doom and Quake all need to make a comeback.
I want Unreal Tournament to make a triumphant return.
That won't be until Epic finalizes the Unreal engine. Don't they generally wait until the latest version of Unreal is considered ready before putting out an Unreal Tournament game?
But twitch shooters don't appeal to people with modern military fantasy boners which is basically everyone that plays cod or battlefield.
If the franchise crumbles, I hope the niche gets filled by twitch shooters. But for that to happen consoles need to get mouse support.
That is true. Last twitch shooter on consoles I remember had mouse and keyboard support was either Unreal Tournament 3 or Counter-Strike: Global Defensive on PS3.
It would be nice to get more PC exclusive shooters for that very reason, no worries about crippling pads. Been playing some UT2004 recently, decided to revisit it after SO long, makes me want that era back, brought bang up to date. Tired of the standards being dictated by what the console players currently like. The ecosystems have separated enough by now, we can handle having some PC exclusive shooters made by big guys again.
If the franchise crumbles, I hope the niche gets filled by twitch shooters.
I want Unreal Tournament to make a triumphant return.
I want a new Unreal game with the botmatches/multiplayer of Unreal Tournament and the single player that's like the original Unreal. Also they should bring back the classic weapon designs too, dual enforcers with "gangsta-style" alt fire was too fun.
But twitch shooters don't appeal to people with modern military fantasy boners which is basically everyone that plays cod or battlefield.
Whoa whoa chill and get off that high horse man.
That would be kinda cool, but we all know Battlefield will take CoD's throne, since everyone loves modern shooters and its the second biggest one so far.
I'm fine with the "SHOOT BROWN MEN IN BROWNLAND" - games staying as long as someone dares to breathe some new fucking life into the genre every once in a while. There's just waaaay too many blatantly obvious multiplayer games with a half assed 3-hour singleplayer slapped on these days. Spec Ops: The Line and Black Ops 2 were a fresh change from that grey mass of boring shit because they actually had a lot of effort put in the single player campaign.
UT, Doom and Quake all need to make a comeback.
I don't want any of those making comebacks. The modern audience would ruin the games. Sooner or later Activision will realise that the only way to give new life to CoD is either doing something futuristic or going back to WW/Nam.
But if Ghosts had set records they'd be bragging everywhere about it. So which is it, Activision? Sales numbers don't matter, or this is a bad sign.

Call of duty just needs to die already. It seems Ubisoft are the only software development company who know how to keep an older series fresh and different with their latest installments nowadays :(
This is turning out to be more like what happened to Guitar Hero. Ran the franchise into the ground so quick that they ended the franchise afterwards. Go ahead Activision, keep living in denial. You were living in denial when you said that you could topple the monster that was Grand Theft Auto 5, and you are living in denial now saying that CoD isn't beginning to stutter. Do something before the series winds up like guitar hero. >_>

They're right. Sales don't matter. But reviews sure as hell do. Shit's dead.
Ghosts was pretty disappointing but then again so was MW3 in my opinion.
Ghosts was pretty disappointing but then again so was MW3 in my opinion.
IMO it's all been going downhill since cod4 but then again it's still selling so keep on milking that cashcow, activision
IMO it's all been going downhill since cod4 but then again it's still selling so keep on milking that cashcow, activision
I think I liked Black Ops more than CoD4. MW2 wasn't bad. WaW was enjoyable too, if somewhat of a WW2 reskin. The only CoD game I bought and didn't like was MW3. That experience made me pass up Ghosts after buying CoD games every year since CoD2 and I'm so happy I went with that.
That won't be until Epic finalizes the Unreal engine. Don't they generally wait until the latest version of Unreal is considered ready before putting out an Unreal Tournament game?
Nah, UT usually is the first game of the engine. UT3 ws like one of the first five the only ones that were before it were fairly heavily modded ones like RS6v2.
But if Ghosts had set records they'd be bragging everywhere about it. So which is it, Activision? Sales numbers don't matter, or this is a bad sign.
Imho a lot about the launch was questionable. a) originally no 4gb, 32bit support on PC b) new console generation The first explains the collapse on the PC front, the second on the console. And with all of that it still sold incredibly well.
It's not ill, it's dying because of you fuckwits.
Okay, a game makes a Billion dollars, right as the industry is getting ready to jump to a new generation and it's 'dying'.
