Had this Corsair h100i for about 1 year now and only had trouble with it. I changed stock fans to Corsair sp120 and theyre all running at 1300RPM constantly and yet with all stresstests i hit 100c with my i7 6700k. This didnt use to be a problem back with my h212 and I've refitted it 4 times, checked screws, pump is running so I'm just going to assume it's faulty.
I can't bother troubleshooting this anymore since I have so little time to play now that I work 40+ hours a week.
So, simple question: what do i replace the h100i with? I'd rather not buy another h100i. Doesn't really matter if its air cooling or aio watercooler, as long as it can keep my i7 6700k at 4.4GHz under 70c at full load. Budget isn't really an issue but if possible i'd rather stay below 150$ than above.
Not quite sure what Phantek's market presence is over there but check this one out. I'd just stay away from AIO's altogether.

The AIO was a first time try for me, heard a lot of good things about the h100i (as far as i can see, its still the most popular AIO out there) and was really excited to try it out.
I can find that one for about 70€ here, which is fine. but it seems to be a really old cooler, has there really not been a better one released since 2011?
I mean there haven't exactly been any changes to air cooler design or anything in quite a while. You could get a noctua d15, that's a great cooler as well. You may just want to change the fans from an aesthetic point of view.

I don't have a window in my current case, but i do plan to change to a NZXT H440 in the future together with sleeved PSU cables for a sleek look, so right now aesthetics isnt a concern at all. All I want now is the best performance I can get, noise isnt that important either. I have headphones and high GPU fan when playing games anyway.
Then get the noctua.
Well this thread is useless now.. I decided to give one more try on fixing the temps and went into BIOS, and for some reason BIOS had kept defaulting vcore to 1.4v for the CPU even though I set it to 1.29 before.. so i defaulted the whole BIOS settings and redid OC to 4.4GHz and vcore to 1.29 manually again.
Bam. Fixed temps, 70c instead of 100c on full intel burntest. 48-50c in Witcher 3 instead of 60-75c. I feel so stupid.

70 is still slightly high for a h100i. Did you re-apply (and remove the old) thermal paste?

Not since february, but I will once I order some new, this h212 tube isnt that good. I'm happy with the temps now tho, Im averaging 46-50c in Witcher 3 and I rarely ever get to the temps that burntest and prime95 would've given me. I'll still reapply it when I order some arctic mx(?) or such.

70c is highish for a 6700k with the h100i. Do you have good enough mounting pressure?
