RAPID CITY, S.D. -- South Dakota authorities say a woman found passed out in a stolen delivery van earlier this month registered a blood alcohol content of .708 -- nearly nine times the legal limit and a possible record for the state.
Meade County State's Attorney Jesse Sondreal said Wednesday that 45-year-old Marguerite Engle was found slumped over the van's steering wheel along a highway on Dec. 1.
He says the highest blood alcohol content state chemists he spoke with could recall was a .56. The state's legal limit is .08.
Authorities say Engle missed an initial court hearing Dec. 15, but that they found her Monday in another stolen vehicle, and that she had been drinking.
She was being held on two counts of driving under the influence. It wasn't immediately clear if she was facing other charges.
Her attorney declined comment.
I'm surprised she could even get in the van
vampires
Blimey, sounds like a massive ratio. How many parts blood would there be in comparison to 1 part of alcohol in her bloodstream?

She had too much blood in her alcohol stream

It's not a ratio, alcohol content is measured in permille(per thousand)
Could anyone put this into perspective? How much content is say 5 pints?
Top score!
Hey there, would you like some more blood for your alcohol?
Could anyone put this into perspective? How much content is say 5 pints?
I think two servings of a hard beverage generally equates to the stated .08 limit. I'm not sure though, so sorry.
edit:
If you are around 100 lbs., you can generally only have about one serving of alcohol before being over 0.08, and only two servings before being above 0.1 (for those states where the legal limit 0.1)
However, a person is closer to 160 lbs. can have about 3 servings of alcohol and still be below the legal limit for driving
Yea, 2 drinks is .08. Thats the legal limit. You would be arrested for that.
She had .708, thats 700 more than the legal limit.

Uh, no it isn't. That's not how decimals work bro.

I bet she's Russian too.
Is this percent or permille? Alcohol in blood is usually measured in permille, but 0.7 permille alcohol is nothing.
