• Brand new laptop, screen is now completely blank after flickering

Yesterday I was using my 1 week old laptop, and now the screen is blank and black. Right now I have it hooked up to my TV as I'm typing this out.
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/fuck6.jpg[/img_thumb]
The Laptop is a Gateway NV79C50u and I bought it from HSN for the flex pay to get a new laptop quickly. Some of my friends say it could be a poor connection with the screen and gpu. And of course searching Google for an answer led to nothing but forum posts with no answers. So hopefully FP can help me with this, it's prerty fucking frustrating having this happen when I need a laptop and I have to have it plugged into a TV to work. Ask me anything you'd like to know and I'll answer it, I just want this shit fixed without having to send it back and being charged anything.
Sounds like a loose cable if it works with your TV still. I'd call up HSN and see what they say about warranty, or Gateway one. Then send it in.
If the backlight was off I'd say it might be the magnet closed lid detector, but it looks like the backlight is on so it's probably the wiring. I'd still try opening and closing the lid a couple of times, but you probably did that
If it works with your TV, I'm calling dodgy connection with the screen. Try the place you bought it from first, then try gateway.
If this is something that can be fixed by me or better yet a shop, I'd much rather do that, sending it in at this moment in time is extremely inconvenient.
