If you have any ounce of appreciation for science, technology, engineering, or math, consider donating a few dollars to the development of this documentary. Help spread the word, they only have 27 days left! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/420606009/fight-for-space-space-program-and-nasa-documentary UPDATE: As posted by Daniellynet's.

Today, July 29th 2012, Fight for Space has reached it's minimum funding level of $65,000. This achievement comes on the same day that President Dwight D. Eisenhower first singed the National Aeronautics and Space Act, so we are proud to be in good company. Now, we must push for greater frontiers. With your help, if we can continue to push this level of funding until our end date of August 19th, we can bring this documentary to new heights. If we can reach $100,000: We can work towards bringing this film to the masses in a theatrical release and more broadcast networks. A higher funding level also means that we will be shoot this film on better cameras, bring in additional and talented artists, designers, cinematographers, photographers, and researchers. Please help boost our funding level to $100,000 or more. With every extra dollar pledged our film becomes that much better. Here are some of the things we will be able to work towards if we exceed our goal. Theatrical Release Additional Distribution Methods Higher Resolution Cameras More Locations More Interviews Improved Design Art for the Rewards Greater Level of Research Larger Crew, Improved Cinematography Larger Orchestra for our Musical Score Please keep sharing, tweeting, and writing! With your help we can make this project even better than we planned! Fight for Space. Thank you all, Paul Hildebrandt Director

Source. That means a better documentary with way more publicity for just $35,000 more! Keep sharing!
OP from this thread. We gotta get it up to $100k! Theater releases for this would be amazing. Seriously, if a virtual reality headset can get a few million dollars worth of funding within a few days, this should at least get $100,000 in 30.
I wish I had money.
I feel so bad that I'm not able to contribute anything to this.
I contributed $10, I can't wait to watch it.
I feel bad that I'm broke. If it makes it to theaters that would be sweet, I would go see that
Really hope it reaches it's goal. I contributed 50 bucks to it when it first was announced, wish i could contribute more.
you guys know you can go get a prepaid credit card right now at pretty much any store for a charge of about $5? i don't really think there's an excuse to not contribute if you really feel its worth it.
I hate how idiotic things on kickstarter has more than this, Like that "documentary" by a female gamer on how women are bullied in games and shit or something, It got a shitload of money.
The fuck is this shit I donated $65 on Monday but it has disappeared from both Kickstarter and Amazon payments. Time to deal with customer support...
I hate how idiotic things on kickstarter has more than this, Like that "documentary" by a female gamer on how women are bullied in games and shit or something, It got a shitload of money.
Ever since that tim schafer thing everyone and their dog has put up a kickstarter for everything. It sickens me how many of these things request ludicrious amounts when they will probably only use a fraction of it and the rest will go to them spending it on whatever the fuck else they want.
Little worried that there is no mention of any shipping costs, but pledged anyways!
Little worried that there is no mention of any shipping costs, but pledged anyways!
The description says "please add $15 for shipping outside the US".
The description says "please add $15 for shipping outside the US".
Where??
Where??
Last line before the interviewees picture.
Last line before the interviewees picture.
Oh wow, they should really make that more clear. What others usually do is just add it in the packages description.
Huh, I don't understand the $30+ option. It's telling me to add another $30. I just want the freakin' shirt!
Huh, I don't understand the $30+ option. It's telling me to add another $30. I just want the freakin' shirt!
You can either buy only the shirt for 30$ + 15$ for shipping or you can edit your original pledge with a 30$ increase to also get the shirt.

Governments can't afford to send people to space any more; private companies will take the reigns. End of documentary.
There's no reason for private companies to go into space, there's no profit to be made. End of space program.
There's lots of profits to be made. Like satellite launches for various other companies. That's just one example. Asteroid mining is another. [editline]15th August 2012[/editline] And considering the amount of money governments spend on Space, "can't afford" is bullshit.
There's no reason for private companies to go into space, there's no profit to be made. End of space program.
Seriously? Spacex and the X-Prize are way ahead of the game now. Please don't assume things.
Governments can't afford to send people to space any more; private companies will take the reigns. End of documentary.
The video itself addresses why "Governments can't afford it" is a bullshit excuse for the government having skewed priorities.
I mean space exploration. What possible reason does a private company have for, say, setting up a colony on mars? Tourism for the super rich? Anything else?
Sponsoring, tourism for somewhat rich (Elon Musk thinks he can do $50 000 if I remember correctly), government contracts which are usually cheaper than government agencies doing it themselves. And loads of possibilities that I probably haven't thought of. And also, very much of the equipment used for getting stuff into orbit can also be used for getting stuff to other places in space.
Jackald is right. While corporations will probably make things smoother and easier, it'll be governments pushing the frontier. Corporations will do something really expensive once it's been demonstrated it's possible already.
I mean space exploration. What possible reason does a private company have for, say, setting up a colony on mars? Tourism for the super rich? Anything else?
if we go to space who will stay on earth and eat mcdonalds food and drink coca cola space exploration will ruin the free market as we know it!!
