Its a cool game, I can see it becoming quite big in esports. Very skill based, and a high skill ceiling, you need very good timing/aiming skills.

I hope so, not really anything FPS wise anymore for pc esports, all of em are just consoles and most are COD games. PC FPS Takes a lot more skill then a console FPS.

The irregular gamemode isn't very entertaining for spectators, I think.

All I've seen for pc esports as of late is all the MOBAs and starcraft 2. Though I've seen quake live has had a couple tourneys

I disagree, the game feels awful and honestly the aiming bits are based around leading targets and stuff but without the fast pace of like a rocket launcher or something from other games.
It needs more weapons, pickups, and a health system. It's more like glorified laser tag and that concept is fucking boring IMO.

it's a boring game to watch and not particularly fun to play either. you don't make an esport by saying "we are going to make a game to be an esport" you make one by making a good game that has an enjoyable to watch high-end experience.
If you want a real world example of why Shootmania is going to fall flat on its face, look at when Totalbiscuit spent a week promoting the game during a tournament. It was some of his least liked videos that year and he actually lost subscribers because of it.
The only people talking about it is the few die-hards who like the beta so yeah it might have a small tournament but if you think it will compete with practically any current game in terms of spectator levels or professional support you are kidding yourself.
about time.. I got a key for the closed beta and their site just leds you in circles.. I couldn't even find a way to download their client..
