Checked full-release feature list. Aparently no greenfor tank, heavy APC, attack helicopter or even AAA vehicle. Might be incomplete, though.

from what i understand they've cut a lot of stuff from release, either to be released later or not at all
pretty disappointing honestly, i understand they had development issues but i feel like they should've just delayed it if there's gonna be less content than previous games, modding or not
It kinda sucks when you prepurchase something and the content of said final product vs initially advertised keeps diminishing.
I'm glad we're getting something rather than it just being delayed for another year, but I really hope they get around to adding what they cut in more than just missions.

Not sure if the GREENFOR stuff is cut, or just never was there. BiS always were lazy fucks when it came to the independent side, right back from the RACS having no tanks, no fighters, no attack helos; only Blackhawks and M113s.
[editline]11th August 2013[/editline]
Though some files hidden in the Beta indicates that it is, indeed; cut. Stuff like GREENFOR patterns for the Orca and Panwee/Hummingbird.
Also, just fired up ArmA: Armed Assault right after playing ARMA III beta. Jesus Christ, this was my favourite game once? You can't even walk and reload at the same time! :v:
It always puzzled me why they spend so much money on a game less people care about, rather than the standalone of a mod 9/10ths of the playerbase bought the original game for...

Because ARMA has a massive fanbase and probably the most active modding community of any game? Just because Day Z brought it into the mainstream doesn't mean that ARMA doesn't have a market, and a large one at that.
Also, Day Z kids ruined ARMA II multiplayer and modding community for a couple months.

I mean, for fuck's sake, ARMA III is the fourth or fifth game in the series, depending on how you count Operation Arrowhead, and it's only gained in popularity for every version released.
Finally we see some planes.
Finally we see some planes.
Sadly, the plane shown was already in ARMA Operation Arrowhead as the Taki fighter/light ground attack plane.
Content wise this is so much less then Arma 2, Considering each faction only launches with a handfull of armor. In arma 2 you could honestly fuck around for hours in the armory with all the different vehicles and weapons.
Pretty dissapointing if you ask me.

It's painfully obvious to see that they focused all their efforts on the infantry combat, yes. Which, if I may add, is fuckin' glorious in ARMA III. Tanks seem to still run on the WWII-era manual aim and zero instead of having any sort of targeting or fire-control systems, and plane munition-loadout still doesn't look to be customizable in any easy way, if at all.
Most of all, what I miss in the beta is an asymetrical faction, though that seems to be fixed in the full game by the cartel.
[editline]11th August 2013[/editline]
Also. Fuck rabbits! I've had my squadmates laugh their ass off several times when I've been spotting with thermal, and just seen two fast-moving heat blops on a hill and called out two contacts at twelve. Game needs a "Enemy... Bunnywabbit... 500 meters!" easteregg.

I am in no way saying that arma doesn't have a fuckhuge playerbase I was simply stating a massive amount of dayz kiddies cause a huge spike in arma 2 sales. I'm sure they're aware of it but it would make more sense financially to focus some of the dev team on a dayz standalone. Also it seems like they got pretty lazy with arma 3 as the engine is still based off arma 2's and runs like dogshit. Hopefully we'll see some major optimization before it comes out but I doubt it because most problems are in the very core of the engine.

Hahah, no it's not?
[sp]Technically, it's based on Operation Flashpoint's. Y'know. From 2001? ArmA was based on OFP, and ARMA II was based on ArmA, and ARMA III is based on ARMA II.[/sp]
[editline]11th August 2013[/editline]
And DayZ standalone will run TkoH's engine. Which is way, way less optimized than ARMA III's so far. So have fun with that, DayZ kids.

This is what is keeping me from playing it.
I run superbly on singleplayer, but whenever I join a server, it runs smoothly with intervals of freezing every 5 seconds.
This go-stop-go-stop is just intolerable, and makes it impossible to play the game during a firefight.
Hahah, no it's not?

Again you're quite wrong. I'm not a 'DayZ kid' but arma 3's engine is still shit. Maybe if you have a decent rig you'll be okay but Arma 3's engine has all the same problems we've seen in arma 2's. Poor CPU optimization being a major one. It's still technically better than arma 2's by a longshot but still carries most of it's problems.
i don't understand why arma vets get so upset over Day Z when the sales created by it helped the company they love and helped improve Arma 3 as a whole.

I wouldn't call it poor optimization as much as I'd just say it's fuckin' huge. Pretty amazingly well optimized, if you look at how many units' individual AI, how much shading, wind, lighting, effects, landmass and ballistics it has to calculate all the time.
i don't understand why arma vets get so upset over Day Z when the sales created by it helped the company they love and helped improve Arma 3 as a whole.
Did you attempt to find a regular ARMA sever or group of peopel to play with in DayZ's hayday?
i don't understand why arma vets get so upset over Day Z when the sales created by it helped the company they love and helped improve Arma 3 as a whole.
because i can't join a proper arma 2 server anymore and everyone talks shit about arma because "dayz is the only reason to buy arma 2 in the first place"
it really isn't as bad as you make it out to be, "dayz kids" barely touch non dayz stuff.
after dayz came out the amount of morons in pubs has risen pretty high.
the fact that arma 2 is free also helped, but now it's pretty much impossible to play on a pub without finding morons or hackers screwing up the server.
and that's a real shame because there are lots of good arma 2 pub servers that had to switch to private for this reason.
Well without that you'd probably have a much different Arma 3 if one at all. So be happy :v:

They have delayed it over and over again, it should have been released Q4 2012. If they keep delaying it they are going to run out of money.

Uh it hasn't? Nothing they have shown since it went on sale has been cut.

Hate to sound like I'm overly defending BI but the improved engine makes up for it IMO. I have faith in the ArmA modding community to add an insane amount of content.
Going through older screenshots.

Maybe Merkava is shared between Green and Bluefor. Probably not, but we can hope.
Also found a clear shot of the Iranian tank

T-95/Black Eagle, anyone?
Also, submarines.

Cartels

And the secret locked Iranian pattern that you can get in the beta with mods and config edits.

My hype is back after being dead over the whimpy official release list of vehicles.
All of those screenshots are really old. The Iranian railgun tank you see in one of the pics isn't even in the game anymore.
Those guys with the shemaghs are the new FIA I think.
I don't see what's so hard to understand about how DayZ could've affected ArmA's userbase.
Same thing happened with the original Natural Selection for Half-Life. Combat mode came out, which was essentially a heavily stripped down version of the original RTS gamemode, no RTS element, just ranking up by killing and getting better weapons/abilities for each side. Eventually, more and more people came to the game just to play Combat mode and it got harder and harder to find NS servers until most of the strategic players got fed up and left, so it became pretty much impossible to have a game with any semblance of coordination in a pub anymore.
It was stupid, the whole reason the mod was so unique over other games basically withered away, and I am glad they chose NOT to port that mode over to the new game.
Those guys with the shemaghs are the new FIA I think.
The classes for them are in game at the moment, I tried to spawn them earlier as I thought they would look really good in a mission I was making. Turns out the models aren't in yet though :(
So they are coming.
I find ArmA3's environment boring. So many boring shades of yellow.
I'm not really a fan of ARMA 3's environment/setting (aka future)
OA/2's setting and vehicles/weapons are much better imo

You don't really feel the futureness of ARMA III's setting when you play it, all weapons except the MX series of rifles are based on current-day stuff, and almost all vehicles are too.
