As musically diverse and affluent the facepunch music section is, I would really like all of your opinions on my friends work with his old band, the Dukes of Appleton. My friend is 20 and currently does music for "kicks". He loves it, but he's not sure if he really wants to go anywhere with it. He seems to pass off most of his material as, "alright". Everyone I have shown this CD to loves it. He made this CD with his friends when he was 18 I believe, so it was almost 2 years ago and longer when he wrote some of that material. I would show you guys stuff from his more recent band Eagle Statue, but they never had time to record, they just played a handful of shows and eventually went their ways due to college and careers. I just want the opinions of facepunch. Could you ever see yourself possibly paying for future material or at least downloading it if it were free? I should also note that he is the singer and guitarist in these songs. What do you guys think? Edit: Just realized this should probably be in the musician's gig room. No one goes in there anyways. Sorry though!
It's nice music. Nothing really groundbreaking or original though. I think it would be worth doing what you suggested, though personally I wouldn't be that interested.

I agree that it isn't the most groundbreaking material or the most original material around, but I would certainly agree that the music is quite nice. When I buy music, I don't always purchase the most original or groundbreaking material, I buy what I like, which is the mindset I am hoping others might feel. My favorite songs that I posted have the be the second and third songs I posted. Norwegian Houses and Letters From Dawn. He has grown musically in the last two years and feels that his song writing has gotten quite a bit better.

Not really my sort of music, but it sounds good. If he put it up for sale or had a donate button (And If I had any money) I'd throw a few dollars his way.
That's some pretty nice music your friend made there. I'd definitely buy "footsteps".
Really nice stuff, is that his voice? The problem is that it's all pleasant, but it's not particularly striking and ends up a little repetitive in my opinion. Even little things like subtle key changes would really help give his pieces a but more structure I think. But other than that it was pretty enjoyable.
It's good entry-level indie really.
