So I got a plug and charge kit for my xbox 360 wireless controller today and plugged it into my pc.
It did the auto update when it detected it so I then went and downloaded the xbox accesories from the microsoft website which shows when an xbox product is connected.
It didn't connect and it doesnt show up in the control panel games controllers.
Help please.
if it's the wireless controller you need the receiver, the cable will only charge it

Got mine from there, works great!
You're not able to use a 360 controller with a PC because the 360 controller has different drivers on it. You gotta get a 360 controller that specifially says "for Windows".

No, you do not. Not even with third-party controllers.

no, I use my wired xbox 360 controller on my pc all the time.
the reciever works you gotta fuck with device manager stuff tho
No, just download the drivers.
And I bet he could go on ebay and pick a receiver up for like 20 bucks.
Wow if you guys wanna rate me disagree so much, then how the hell did my 360 controller not work when I hooked it up to my computer with the charger cable?

Because the CHARGER CABLE is for CHARGING and not DATA. A wired XBOX 360 controller works fine with Windows. A wireless controller works fine with a Windows PC, too, but you need the WIRELESS RECEIVER to use the wireless.

thx
So I got one of those aftermarket wireless receivers from ebay, downloaded all the drivers etc. but it won't connect. Strange because all the reviews said it worked fine.
Press the sync button on the controller and the receiver.
yeah, i did that before I came to the conclusion it didn't work, pft.
Buy one of these:

that's exactly what I have, in black, from the same company in fact. But don't worry, I fixed it with some searching for solutions online
