So I have this peesashit 2.0 Ghz single core Athlon 64. Now, the problem is that I've upgraded everything except my CPU. So as you can imagine it's a major bottleneck on my system. The problem is that I can't make heads or tails of CPU compatibility for some reason. So, my question is, what's compatible with my motherboard? Can I get an Athlon X2, or can I just not use dual cores, or what?
Kinda hard to see what the motherboard is compatible with if we don't know what the motherboard is. Though if it's new, it's probably AM2+ socket.
Well, what IS your mobo? [editline]10:23PM[/editline] ninja'd
nothing is compatible because you have not said what motherboard you have.
It's an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe. Old as shit.
Try a socket 939 AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4200+. You will need to update your BIOS.
And how would I go about doing that?
http://usa.asus.com/Product.aspx?P_ID=e1h9yUaMZAsTwIEN Go to "CPU Support List", find the CPU you want to get. Click on it, download the file, and flash it. Warning: there is a small chance of it bricking your mobo.
Eh, you only live once. Much obliged.
