I just started listening to this man today. His music has been banned by the Nigerian government. His home has been set on fire and the man himself has been arrested multiple times. He formed his own political party, and even tried to run for president in Nigeria's first elections. He essentially founded the genre "Afrobeat" which is a complex fusion of Jazz, Funk, Ghanaian/Nigerian High-life, Psychedelic Rock, and traditional West African chants and rhythms. This is simply a very brief summary of this man's accomplishments.

The tracks are quite simply way too long to fit in a normal youtube video, so here are ten-minute snippets of his music.

Zombie is fantastic
Wow, this is really weird. I was sitting in on a lecture of a certain music class, and professor talked about him. And yes, Zombie is fantastic.
