Whenever I start a New Game in Garry's Mod, the loading reaches the last couple of bars and then the program abruptly closes. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, deleting addons and validating the game cache. All help towards solving my situation is very much appreciated.
New game as in trying to run one of the HL2 campaigns? Or new game as in trying to play a single player map?
The HL2 campaigns haven't worked correctly in Garry's Mod in years and there's really no good fix.
I have the same issue, and i have had it since the july 2013 hotfix came out. i try to play sp or mp, then it just crashes.

You guys should post PC specs, since issues like these are usually conflicting with hardware. The PC may be using really outdated parts or software?

All right, this is getting ridiculous. I was finally able to start a new game, BUT only when I disabled all of my addons. My movement speed was lowered and even when I tried to re-enable my addons, they wouldn't be available for use even after I restarted the map. So I quit to the main menu, enabled all my addons from there, started a new game, and watched it close two bars before it was done.
Re-enable them all one by one and start a new game until it crashes. The last addon you enabled is the culprit.
It might be tedious, but try it.
