• Sub-woofer on Carpet = Bad?

Is it bad or does it alter the sound, when you have carpet floors and you place the sub-woofer directly on the carpet? Should I place down a hard service underneath it, such as a book? Thanks!

You could have your subwoofer UNDER your floorboards and it'd still be fine if it was a quality subwoofer (I've seen home-theaters where that is done) So sitting on carpet wouldn't make a difference (even with a downward facing subwoofer.)
My subwoofer sounded better on the floor rather than up on my desk. I get a much more powerful bass sound for some reason.
^ Subwoofers are supposed to stand on the floor, you know
Subwoofers have rubber dampening stands on them for a reason. It will sound better on a carpet.
Also if they are on your desk they tend to vibrate everything that is also on the desk.
I got my subwoofer on the desk. :v: I just find it amusing when it shakes everything. It's not that big but still. Grenades in Crysis make me shit my pants.
Subwoofers have rubber dampening stands on them for a reason. Also, you don't get the annoying vibrating sound from the rubber feet on carpet. :buddy:
I actually keep mine on my desk because when it was under my desk it sounded really muddy
Mine can rattle our windows if I really crank it. Pretty good for something I got for free (its a Boston Acoustics Gateway 2000 speaker set). Works perfectly fine on carpet, so you should be safe. Like that
Well, Carpet's not bad, and I don't think putting a book under it would help much. And don't put it on top of your desk, A) It clutters your desk B) You often produce better bass by having it under a desk, and again when it's actually on the floor.
I've had my Z-2300 sub on my floor for years and it sounds great. It pounds. not my picture, just showing off the size :smug:
I keep my sub on the floor pointed towards the wall behind my PC. Amplifies the effect quite a bit.
Mine points toward my bed. It's in a corner surrounded with a bunch of other crap. It works pretty well.
