I want to get a new processor (quad preferably) since my e5300 is getting old My motherboard supports only 775 socket, does this really matter? I was thinking of getting something like this and oc'ing it to 3.0 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158333 Or should I upgrade my mobo so I can get a cheap sandy cpu or something - would there be much difference?
Yes, 775 is oollld, 1155 and 1366 are the newest (the're even coming out with 2011pin soon). There will be a major performance difference between 775 and 1155 or 1366. Dual Cores are really getting out dated nowadays. Also, what are you using it for? If its gaming, get a Quad Core (i5's are cheap and good for gaming), and then you would have to get a 1155 or 1366 pin MOBO aswell. If its for casual stuff, and you dont have alot of money, you could stay with the 775pin(So yea, the Q8300 would work)
Socket 1155 doesn't mean they have 1155 pins
yes it does
yes it does
I ment to say something else.
