Does anybody know any interesting facts about either FacePunch or Rust? - General

I am just looking for any interesting facts about either the FacePunch studio or the game Rust.

Everyone outside of the rust section hates rust and [I]you[/I]

OIFY had a brief fork that was called "The Bears' Asshole" (forum ID 71) and both forums existed concurrently for a time. Old man Mikfoz is currently pissing in a sea of piss. Firerain exists solely to irritate Garry. Chris0132 likes abusing small rodents. There once was a system called INSTABAN that came into existence to get people to stop saying annoying memes like "to the bunker" or "stick it in his/her..." and one that even originated on FP "sopme". Later on, random phrases and even some user names were added to the instaban list (war_man_333). Garry used to give free speedboats to people banned for 7 days. The forum used to have a smartness system with a stats page to show the "smartest" and "dumbest" users. All users started out with 5000 smartness (in the second version, 0) and points were added or subtracted based on some simple (and horribly broken) rules relating to spelling and grammar. Users with the lowest smartness would be put on the top of the dumb list on the stats page.Every hour, the user with the lowest smartness would be automatically banned. If you did something to lose tons of smartness points in a single post, you'd be banned for 700 days.

Rust is actually the name of the "boss" of the game and the current map is actually the final area. They just thought it would be more fun to work in reverse, thus starting with the unfinished end and having end game equipment available at the start. Originally if you stood still at less than 300 calories and had a free spot in your inventory you'd pick your nose and add the boogers to your inventory. They could be safely eaten for 20 calories each or wiped on surfaces as a crude marker. It was scrapped because people would just spend all day wiping boogers on things and the resources to render all that crust was bogging the game down more. Don't ask how I know this insider knowledge. I lost many a friend and a pretty sweet macaroni strainer to get it. They are still after me, yet I continue to post here.

Garry once explained that making babies is not that difficult nor that great, a quote his son will enjoy some day. Smurfy created a Facepunch wiki but it doesn't get much attention. Hezzy was the greatest moderator ever here on Facepunch until Garry murdered him and threw his body into the River Thames. A fp'er once posted Garry's home address here, resulting in the thread deleting and him being permabanned. I once made a double post, resulting from an automerge fail. At the end of this story, 37 people got banned. :v:

Garry initially made FacePunch forums to talk about his homosexual desires with other gamers, and make a "sexual content" mod of Half Life, but after 6 months, he attended a IRL FP meeting, got drugged, and raped by 7 FP users (there are rumors out there that one of the rapist was Postal). When he woke up nude, in the rusty(yeah it is how he came up with the name RUST) abandoned London cab, with internal bleeding, and "i suk dickz 4 funn" tattoo on the chest, he swore to Gabe that he will never ever again, do gay shit. After getting home from hospital and 10k euro of asshole reduction operation in Germany, he logged in to his facepunch.com's FTP, deleted everything, and made this forum. Although he swore to stop doing gay shit, he still makes threads in The Gold Members Forum. I guess old habits die hard.

I'm second only to Garry in being the oldest, in terms of registration date, but still regularly/most active member of the site out of the 04ers. There are a few other who last I knew still existed, but I don't think they're regularly active. Was the 12th person to re-register/be migrated from the brown forums (Tbh I can't remember if it was auto migrated or we signed up for the site manually.) Jonathan Ross's son used to be a member (don't know if he is still active), mostly known from when he posted screenshots of he and his family's spore creatures when they got a preview before the game was released.

Rust is named after the general term for red Iron oxides which commonly appear on decaying man made objects.
