So it's not Raven? I guess Activision is too busy making them create map packs for COD.
Doesn't look promising to me. It's lacking everything early Wolfenstein games were best known for. Atleast mecha-Nazis remind me of Super Soldiers from RtCW, but far less appealing.
if the phrase mein leben doesnt make it into this this game will be a failure.
if the phrase mein leben doesnt make it into this this game will be a failure.
i now want to hear a huge nazi-robot say "mein leben" as it breaks down
That trailer was pretty badass.
That trailer was really annoying. I really hope they don't decide that since it's set in X year they have to fill it with pop-culture references and unfitting music that probably shouldn't exist in-universe just to cater to people's nostalgia boners and decade-fetishism.
So what was Blazkowicz doing from 194x to 1960?
So what was Blazkowicz doing from 194x to 1960?
Twiddling thumbs [editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
That trailer was really annoying. They used music that they felt was fitting. Would you rather it be dubstep?
So what was Blazkowicz doing from 194x to 1960?
i believe he was in some sort of stasis, hence why he said they forgot about him and he did nothing prior to that point.
What the fuck did I just watch.
Already feels a lot more RTCW than Wolf 09 did [editline]7th May 2013[/editline] that too, lol I'm a diehard id fan but I want this game to be more RTCW than Wolf3D
RTCW is still one of my favorite games of all time. I loved it then and I love it now, I remember how cool and unique the class system was in multiplayer at the time.
Gravelly voiced narrator, monochrome setting, unfitting music from a cultural icon, and it's a FPS. Haven't seen this before!
Gravelly voiced narrator, monochrome setting, unfitting music from a cultural icon, and it's a FPS. Haven't seen this before!
60s music is unfitting for a game taking place in the 60s? Ok
60s music is unfitting for a game taking place in the 60s? Ok
but muh anacronisms
Waiting on gameplay footage to pass judgement. If they're going back to roots and making it a fast paced fun shooter, then maybe I'll give it a go. If it's just another linear, set piece crammed, "cinematic experience", then yeah I'll pass.
Gravelly voiced narrator, monochrome setting, unfitting music from a cultural icon, and it's a FPS. Haven't seen this before!
that is totally a valid way to judge a pre-alpha game that hasn't release gameplay footage yet :downs:
Want so hard.
There’s a trailer narrated by protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz - a Doom Guy without his nous for scintillating conversation:
Funny they mention that. Isnt Blazkowicz actually a direct ancestor to the Doom Marine? You realize this is the series that pretty much created the genre, alongside Doom. Right?
Funny they mention that. Isnt Blazkowicz actually a direct ancestor to the Doom Marine?
In the second DooM RPG game, the marine character you can play as is a descendant but as far as I know it's not mentioned other than that game.
The Doom 3 manual mentions it as well, which seems to imply that's canon.
What I loved about wolfenstein was the fact that the nazis had great technology mixed with good old ww2 equipment. This better keep that feeling. Also what's up with the music? jimi hendrix is fucking amazing and the song fit really fucking well there.
In the second DooM RPG game, the marine character you can play as is a descendant but as far as I know it's not mentioned other than that game.
Blazkowicz is also Commander Keen's grandpop.
YEAH!
Or if you played the Mac/3DO port, ALRIGHT!

Ohoohoh. What if theres a hint somewhere in here towards Doom 4?
The Doom 3 manual mentions it as well, which seems to imply that's canon.
It does? I'd have to say though, the marine seems to differ with each source you are looking at. In the original games you knew nothing, the books give him a name, then DooM 3 goes back to keeping him nameless, then the DooM 3 novels give him a name again. Could be that the Doom 3 marine is a separate character from the first one, and is a descendant. But as far as the original marine who really knows.
takes place in the 60's? I wonder how this will affect Billy Blaze, Blazkowicz's Grand-Son.
How good is the wolfenstein series? I haven't played anything past Wolf3D.
