The article doesn't give the full context. A worker at Costco in charge of preparing food began acting erratically, grabbed a knife and started to babble nonsense while threatening co-workers. The police arrived on a disorderly conduct call and ended up shooting the woman and a fellow police deputy.
This situation could've been handled without guns, and everybody would be safe. This highlights the unnecessary deaths caused by having guns left right and center in the justice system.

A couple years ago there was a shooting inside my apartment building, they barricaded themselves in so my street was cut off for 2 days
