• Mississippi radio station taken over; ominous Microsoft Sam countdown activated.

At around 2:00PM on 10/6/2010, all normal broadcasting on Gulf Coast Mississippi radio station 105.9 WHGO ceased. Static filled the airwaves. Several hours ago, the silence was replaced by a computerized Microsoft Sam voice counting down to a date two days in the future; pausing to recite a random phrase every few minutes. Whatever this transmission is, it appears to be originating from their broadcasting center, because it's even being played on their Internet stream. 105.9 WHGO's website Listen live (open in Internet Explorer unless you want to install Silverlight) [editline]1[/editline] The random phrases it's saying appear to be song lyrics mixed with some sort of manifesto. "To the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast He comes in peace"
Had to open it with Ie, for anyone waiting with Firefox.. I wonder what's happening at the radio station itself..
Could be viral advertising of some kind, or a hacker.
Its the apocalypse.
Wow, this is some creepy shit. I wonder if it will continue like this for 2 days. Looks like it's going to end at 4 O clock on Saturday. Seems like a promo for something.
Crappy that it has to be IE. I don't want to download that silverlight thing
The station may have changed ownership, and the countdown is how long until the new station is up.
I bet it's trolling you and something epic will happen when it's over.
Well, this is interesting. I already hate microsoft sam's voice.
I can hear it just fine in Firefox. Autobreak merge
The station may have changed ownership, and the countdown is how long until the new station is up.
They could have used something a little less creepy then. "your call is very important to us, we will be with you in *time on countdown*" :ohdear:
2 days 15 hours? "The misunderstanded me"
"Thank you Mississippi for welcoming me into your life." Looks like Mississippi is fucked, good thing I live in Texas. Also: "Everybody loves somebody sometime." "They underestimated me." "The satchel was gift to me from the queen of America." "I'm a wild and crazy guy."
The sash was a gift to me from the Queen of America. wtf?
"This sash was a gift to me from the queen of America" :frog:
I can never take the microsoft sam voice seriously.
It's the fucking aliens!
Oh Microsoft Sam and his hacking radio stations. :downs:
It's just an advert. Nothing more, nothing less. Perhaps it's counting down to the release of Microsoft Vista 2.0? -Attempts to hold straight face-
"Age is a question of mind over matter; if you don't mind, it don't matter." Its saying quotes... and then some random shit.
The station may have changed ownership, and the countdown is how long until the new station is up.
This. The same thing happened when one radio station around here changed owners. Not news.
"This sash was a gift to me from the queen of America" :frog:
I thought it was Satchel, and who the hell is the queen of America.. "the Mississippi gulf will be his new home" oh fuck
We may lose We may win But we will never be here again
I'm gonna go with viral advertising or something like the Max Headroom kind of thing back then.
We may lose We may win But we will never be here again
Yeah we're fucked...
Microsoft Sam is trolling us guys. :smug:
this is like a creepypasta, except it's microsoft sam, so the creepy factor goes down a hundredfold.
I bet it's trolling you and something epic will happen when it's over.
you just used "epic" to describe something. you should be ashamed of yourself.
What's sad is that I have silverlight installed, yet it still complains when I visit the website.
"Where will you be, my love, tommorrow?" "I love you" "I bet you can't hold your breath that-"
