Wow, a retro indie side scrolling action platformer. What a novel idea in 2017!
Might as well have called it 'I can't believe it's not Megaman!'.
NES inspired but yet again we ignore all the limitations from the era that made the games from that era the lovable gems that they were, and just use "inspiration" as a means to hand wave the lack of innovation in gameplay. The limitations of the NES and similar time period systems made the best games for the systems so interesting, because they were often pushing the envelope of what was thought possible for the hardware.
I honestly hate the "retro inspired" "pixel art" genre,. It's not interesting anymore, and it was only novel at best so..
