The real money auction houses sound like a bit too risky for me, but if you were moving house abroad to a different country, losing all your stuff would suck.

Honestly, if you were to just call blizzard's support they would probably just sort it out for you. By far the most efficient and friendly support team in gaming, imho.
The biggest issue with the RMAH is if your account gets compromised.

That's only if you keep your details saved into the account, just put money into the blizzard account and keep the rest of your funds seperate.
That way all they have access to is the money in the pouch which can be traced by Blizzard. Also don't forget authenticators. Having one on your phone makes it almost impossible to have your account compromised.

You're required to use an authenticator, and a mobile (I think?) for txt alerts that notify you if your password is changed, and some other stuff.
