Im buying an iPad today, but i'm not sure which one to get. I am thinking the 16 GB wifi + 3g one but I don't know if the 3g is worth another 130$. Help?
If you absolutely have to buy one, don't go for 3g.

Facepunch is not the place to post for this kind of question. Everyone is just going to jump on the bandwagon. However, as a proper answer to your question it's up to you for what you're going to be using it for. If you travel a lot, and will be bringing it without it's probably a nice idea to have 3G for internet access on the go, if not I wouldn't go for it. However keep in mind that if you get 3G you're also going to need to pay for data usage, but it shouldn't be that much, maybe about $20 a month. (and sometimes you can get a free year of unlimited data, like I did with my iPhone)
I'd recommend you taking this to the Apple section for less douchebag replies.
is 3G really that important to have? i mean are you going to be taking it every where or will you just be using it in your own home?

I apologize for the misconception, but i assumed that general discussion would apply to this. Please have someone close the thread if its going to be an issue.

A lot of the time I will be in my home. At the same time I'm a Gold Medallion Sky Miles member ( I travel a lot)
I would only get the wi-fi version, but it depends on how you're gonna use it. I think 16gb will do you fine, but 32gb could be an option. Those HD apps take up more space, and so will the HD movies you will inevitably want to put on it.
If you're traveling a lot and will be bringing it buy the 3G then.
3g.
Then; open it up, take the magical toast inside that powers it.
and EAT IT
Wouldn't an iPhone be better to buy?
I'm sorry if I misunderstood but you want an iPad for the big screen and such right? Wouldn't maybe another tablet be better then? Or maybe none of them has 3G...
:ohdear:
Just 16GB wifi.
Please, die in a fire.
An iPad can't even run 2 apps at the same time, let alone even run flash. Most of the apps that run on the iPhone won't run on the iPad, such as ebuddy. It hasn't even got any USB ports!?
You would be much better off buying a good laptop/computer, for about the same price.

Honestly a netbook is much more cost effective than an ipad
just get a netbook and an iPod touch

Jailbreak it to run multiple apps, and it's getting multi-tasking this fall. It can run eBuddy. And it doesn't need USB ports. It's not a computer and it's not trying to be one. It's a tablet and he didn't want to know your thoughts on the product, he simply asked which one he should purchase.
Buying iPad = Selling your soul to the devil.
Well, have fun with it(In my oppinion, and probably most others its a prietty uneccesary device)
Don't get one get this, http://www.archos.com/products/nb/archos_9/index.html?country=us&lang=en.
The only advantage is it is less shiny.
Buy an iPad if you want one
fuck anyone who tells you otherwise
I'm reading this thread from my iPad. :smug:

That got really bad reviews, althought it is still better than the Ipad.
Don't buy it OP, especially if you already have an Ipod touch or Iphone
Pretty much everything is better than the Ipad when looking at specs, capability, and price. You could get a REALLY nice 18.4" widescreen laptop for around the same price and it would actually be able to do something. Ipads are for people who buy something just because it's cool and not because they actually have a real use for it. Most people are disappointed after they pay $800 for basically a netbook with no USB ports and a low-clocked Pentium 4 processor. Not to mention the fact that the storage space is appalling. Apple's 1ghz processor is a joke. If you really want an Ipad, at least wait till they make one with a half decent processor.
To above post. ITS NOT A COMPUTER AND ITS NOT TRYING TO BE ONE

The device is very useful and great if you travel a lot and are involved in business related situations. For me, I have a lot of documentaries and other films I've produced ready to show to clients and other business partners on the fly, and I have to say it's a lot more convenient than lugging out the laptop and waiting for it to boot up to show and share all sorts of media when time is of the essence.
I work on film sets a lot too so various apps that display PDFs regarding pre-production and allow me to do quick sketches of what must be done so the crew knows their job have made it pretty invaluable to me. It's handier for situations where I have a minimal amount of work space and I am constantly moving. It has minimized the amount of paperwork I need to have on me (because it's all on the device, ready to pull up at a moment's notice). The iPad all depends on how you put it to use. If you're going to ask a forum full of gamers here like this, you're going to get a pretty biased response, considering
1. The whole site is pretty much a Apple hate bandwagon
and
2. The only thing the majority of people here would even have a use for it would probably be for games, which the device also does have plenty of fun ones already if you wish to get a few.
If you want to know which one to get, it, again, also depends on what you plan to do with it. I bought a 64GB with 3G + Wifi because I need to have access to the internet on the fly a lot regardless of where I am, as well as have a fairly good amount of storage space for all the kinds of media I am constantly syncing with it.
To give you a bit of history, I have owned PCs for the majority of my life, I have several gaming rigs, a Macbook Pro, and iPhone and now an iPad. It's probably one of the greatest portable devices I've ever owned. Here's the misconception, the iPad is not meant to replace your home computers or even BE a computer (although at the rate things are begin to develop, I'm pretty sure they'd love it to take over a good chunk of the market share).
It all depends on how you use it, and I'll tell you, it's saved me needless stress and frustration on several occasions recently, because it's a big organization tool that allows me to do my job as efficiently as possible.

You are talking out of your ass like I've never seen some talk out of their ass before. I'm sorry you don't understand the concept of what a "job" is, but until actually get a job, you probably won't be able to appreciate the device beyond the level of "HURR IT DUSNT PALY GAEMS LIEK MAH PC". It's not a god damn video game console, but it does that pretty well too.
I've got an iPhone, i just hold it closer to my face and pretend its an iPad
