Dumb snide remark aside, you seriously thing there is no need for wifi extenders? Although this was the purpose of the article, WiFi is not really for "gaming/desktop" setup, but it is a very good mean for being mobile around your workplace/home, ESPECIALLY if you have a detached house.
A properly placed access point will have whole house coverage with service in the yard.
