Armed police clear public from Teesside beach - no one knows why

[B]Armed police have cordoned off Saltburn seafront in Teesside over concerns for the welfare of a female.[/B]

[B]The Army has confirmed that bomb disposal experts are in attendance, with two crews and a duty officer on standby to assist police.[/B]

Cleveland Police have not yet confirmed the exact nature of the incident.

Phil Barnes, an eyewitness who took photos of the armed officers, said a police helicopter had arrived at the scene.

Mr Barnes said: "[B]Police have cleared everyone away so no-one can see what is happening.[/B]"

Graham Pickering of BBC Tees is at Saltburn and said a stretch along the top of the cliff had been sealed off for a distance of several hundred yards, including the pier.

Saltburn Bank has been closed to traffic, which could cause congestion problems for Marske Road and the road between Saltburn and Brotton.

No one else is concerned because that isn't what's happening at all. Bomb disposal, suspected bombs and bomb anything =/= everyday policing. It's not like there's soldiers policing the streets 24/7. It makes perfect sense for army explosives experts to be there.
