It's good news, then, that researchers at Stanford have developed a new lithium battery that could last for much, much longer. The technique allows for denser, more efficient lithium in the battery's anode (which discharges electrons) by using a nanoscopic carbon shield that keeps the unstable chemical in check -- uncontrolled, it can quickly shorten the device's lifespan. i dont give a shit about phone batteries, when will this tech come to the r/c world?
i dont give a shit about phone batteries, when will this tech come to the r/c world?
What about actual cars? Tesla with 600 mile range?
So they're no longer Lithium-Ion, they found a way to make straight Lithium batteries produce enough power to keep devices functional?
i dont give a shit about phone batteries, when will this tech come to the r/c world?
What's preventing you from doing a custom rig? If people can rig up laptop batteries to cars, you should be able to do the same thing with cell batteries for R/C, yeah?
Hahaha battery life isn't going the double, phone manufacturers will just use batteries twice as thin
Not my phone. Bastards seem to think phones shouldn't have user-replaceable batteries anymore.
What about actual cars? Tesla with 600 mile range?
You mean they'll finally be able to reach the advertised range while still taking yonks to charge. Let's be reasonable here.
meanwhile apple patents the iBattery now no one else can use it :(

But will it blend ?
i dont give a shit about phone batteries, when will this tech come to the r/c world?
Batteries in the RC world are a bit different from those in phone batteries because RC batteries have to be rated to a pretty high current threshold to drive those high-RPM motors and get topped off by quick-chargers. [editline]27th July 2014[/editline] Although noone's stopping you from rigging a phone battery up.

Sweet, now the iPhone's battery can last for 10 minutes
Hahaha battery life isn't going the double, phone manufacturers will just use batteries twice as thin
Maybe they'll finally make phones that are so thin that you can't see them from the side. That seems like the ultimate goal here.
Finally my phone will have a battery life of 8 hours
finally I can get more than 3 hours screen on time on max screen brightness
So they're no longer Lithium-Ion, they found a way to make straight Lithium batteries produce enough power to keep devices functional?
They basically found a way to use pure lithium as the anode instead of a graphite intercalation compound, which vastly improves energy density. If your phone's life isn't any good, it might be a shitty battery but there's probably one or two things you could do to improve it. Don't just blanket blame the industry.

Holy shit "get some febreez or something!"

In the meantime if you want phone batteries that last you a week I heartily recommend www.zerolemon.com. I've bought 2 of their batteries so far and they've both been great.
My Nexus 4 while amazing has some of the worst battery life when 3G is on, it gets so annoying
Lose the iphone
lose virtually any decent flagship smartphone*
My Nexus 4 while amazing has some of the worst battery life when 3G is on, it gets so annoying
It is awful when any sort of internet connection is on. I turned off wifi and it lasted me 6 full days. With wifi it can barely do a day.
