Hello!
We are developers who are currently looking to plan out a game. The game engine we are using is GameMaker 8.1, games which have been made with this engine, are games such as Spelunky, Hotline Miami, Risk of Rain, Cook, Serve, Delicious!, Super Crate Box, Gunpoint and Stealth Bastard: Deluxe. That's only a small portion as well.
But unfortunately, we can't make any solid work without having sprites to test our ideas on. If we can't do that, we can't make the game.
Once we have a techdemo up and running and some art, we are planning to make a Kickstarter, and you'll be getting a cut of profits made in the game.
What we require:
A good sprite artist with some concept arts to show us.
A person who is dedicated as there is a lot of art required.
Someone who wouldn't mind making this one of their priorities.
Don't forget! You're getting paid for this, but not until the game is sold, or on Kickstarter. (People who say that Kickstarter is for funding a project, I agree - but you are also selling the game within the funding and therefore that is profit).
If you're interested please feel free to contact me via:
E-Mail: erasusjidkut@googlemail.com
Steam: Sererz (Preferable)
Skype: tom.mccloud1
and if you want, you can even send me a PM on here.
One last note - The art style we're going for is a mix between Spelunky, BOI, Dungeons of Dredmor and Stardew Valley.
So... you haven't posted any idea of what the game is, you just asked for a sprite artist and expected responses.
This is not how you go about recruiting an artists. No real self respecting artists is ever going to jump on a project like this without first seeing some sort of demonstration of ability from the developer. Either older projects, current tests, ideas, concepts, etc. No ones gonna put effort into creating original art without some sort of guarantee of completion. What if I spend months working on art and then the game fails or drops production and I end up with nothing? This is a very amateurish way to go about doing anything.
We know what we want to do with the game and the story and all of it - I'm not going to tell you the story as I'd like people to find out for themselves. We haven't got work to show of the game itself hasn't made progress as we haven't got art. Lilyo, the game isn't dropping production, we've got a very powerful work ethic and are willing to be committed until the game is fully developed. As for ideas and concepts, I was kind of waiting for people to contact me and then I'd tell them. I don't really want to publish it here, regardless of how dumb it sounds, I'd rather tell you guys personally.

If you'd like to know what we're taking inspirations from, then:
Zelda is one of the biggest.
The Binding of Isaac.
Dungeons of Dredmor.
Spelunky.
Bastion.
Don't Starve.
FTL.
Different elements of each, but for you to fully understand I'd need to explain it to you properly.
lol
"i want an atuist 4 mah story but i wont tell any of u becos u gotta find out on ur own ;)"
did you buy yourself gold
Ah. So here wasn't the place for help.
Regardless of whether I bought myself gold, you're still being unnecessarily harsh. I hope you got some joy out of it though, but as soon as one person says something bad about a thread it turns to shit. So thanks anyway, I'll get this closed.

That doesn't give reason to be a total dick to him. He seems relatively new to this, so give him a chance. Sounds like he just wants to keep the idea original; however, it does seem a bit sketchy when people do this without any previous items to show. Also, the fact that he bought gold means he probably won't do something stupid like scam on this account, so he seems trustworthy.
Unfortunately I'm not a pixel artist, so I can't help out, but it sounds like it could be an interesting game.
nobody's going to apply for this if they don't know what the hell it is, you have to prove your idea is worth making a game out of.
Remember man people have art styles and abilities with certain genres. So some indication of themes, scale and amount of work, and time frames etc will help bring artists outta the woodwork.
