HAHA that is so funnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Careful optimism! :buddy:

I know, I just had to have a first post ever since 06.

Not at all, actually. I gotta say however that your use of consonants is dumber than my unfunny Crysis reference.
Rather than the ones and zeroes of digital computing, quantum computers deal in what are known as superpositions - states of matter that can be thought of as both one and zero at once.
:psyduck:
I still don't get how the whole "can be thought of as both one and zero at once" helps.
Atomic0l. I don't really find what you are saying funny.
Sounds awesome!
It's a very hard concept to grasp, how they work, but once we get the qubits rolling we will have ENORMOUS computing power.
Can somebody translate this into English?
Will they run Crysis 2?
It can play all versions of Crysis simultaneously.

butthurt

Soon! :science:
When will we actually be able to buy them for ourselves?
I'm thinking of computers moderately close to that of whats in Star Trek. You may think "Star Trek? pffft that's a TV show, it'll never happen." Yeah? Well alot of the tech that's in star trek actually exists, but more reality like.

All in all, I think this going to be a HUGE step forward in making space travel more of a reality and developing the tech for making renewable energy that isn't bolted under the hook of a Prius.
Edit: If you don't know what I mean by this, it means there will be computers capable of processing the massive calculations needed in order to run such things in the most efficient manner possible. Also, I think it's funny that the dumb raters are the ones who want it just to play Crysis.
"We're right at the bleeding edge of actually having a quantum processor," he said. "It's been years that a whole community has blossomed just looking at the idea of, once we have a quantum computer, what are we going to do with it?"
PLAY GAMES, PLAY GAMES GODDAMIT'!

I wonder how programming for a quantum computer will be. I can't imagine it's even remotely similar to what we have now.

I'd love nothing more than an x86-64 qcpu...
Get on it intel!
It looks pretty
Man I can't wait to factor numbers.
this shit could be great to decrypt assange's doomsday file rofl
It can play all versions of Crysis simultaneously.
It can both play and not play Crysis at the same time.

I'd love to try it.
The next model will look like this.

Hurrrrr.
In all seriousness, I honestly didn't expect this stuff to advance this fast.

Whatever happened to that, I've had it laying in my external HDD for ages, I would like to know whats in it!
Will they run Crysis 2?
it can play every copy of Crysis in the world, simultaneously, at an unfathomable framerate.
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
but not really because it doesn't utilize x86-64
I still don't get how the whole "can be thought of as both one and zero at once" helps.
in Layman's terms, It takes time for processors to "switch" between 0 and 1; Quantum processors don't take any time to "switch." So, they are faster!
JUST BREAK THE FUCK THROUGH WITH THAT PROCESSOR AND LET ME PLAY VIDYA GAMES.
