recessions aren't necessarily kind to the rich
this is the most condescending pile of dogshit i've read in a while
It's entertaining to wail about fat cats and the greedy rich. But if we're serious about addressing widening inequality, we should figure out what the 1% is doing right -- and apply some of those ideas to closing the gap.
Yeah I should have inherited my dad's billion dollar ceo title, but instead I became a barista, my fault.
I also could have invented a new website that attracts billions a day and become the youngest billionaire, but I was lazy and did not do this.
It's also my fault for not having the connections to the rich and powerful, like knowing the dean of Harvard or being the best friend and boyfriend of the hedge fund manager's daughter.
Wages have stagnated since the 70s. Telling everyone to get a college degree will devalue it, just like high school diplomas, though granted it will always be ahead.
The gaps are inevitably going to widen as the 'middle class' fades and the global labor market balances out to be less in favor of the west. Western capital will be unaffected and the status of classes will resemble something closer to the first half of the 20th century, with all of its labor struggles.
Not to mention OWS is hardly about simple income gaps, they aims their attacks on capital's influence on politics (as if it's not inevitable). But more importantly, they bring to light the plights of labor, our nation's real but mistreated constituents.
scorpious, this is an opinion piece by Nina Easton, what the fuck are you doing
It's time to end the myth that the nation's wealthy are getting rich off the backs of the poor.

So while those in the "We are 99%" camp might feel left out today, the segment earning college degrees might feel less so years from now.
gosh, you don't think maybe lowering tuition fees is one of the things the occupy movement is protesting for??
I've looked at three articles so far and they're all variations on the theme of "now look, the answer isn't to go after the 1%, x problem is much more important" [del]not realising[/del] realising perfectly well they're inextricably tied together and not acknowledging it
