Ok, its 4:36 in the morning. While I was sleeping quietly and enjoyed my lengthy sleep, I heard a car alarm right under my house, and decided to check it out from the window. I saw a couple of men, well built, trying to open the car door by sticking metal rods inside the keyhole. When they failed, they broke the window, and i was positive that they hijacked a car. Boy I was wrong. Instead, they took it to the middle of the street, and threw a molotov cocktail inside it, and the car started to burn. Gas, flames, napalm everywhere, and I called the cops. The men ran away, however the fire department came and sorted all the trouble out. I was the only man that called. They told me if ive done it a minute later the gas tank would explode, and there is an electricity station next to me. They told i did a good thing. Good job! Should have thrown one back.
You did a good thing, but you're not a hero.
did u die
no, but i took photos but they are crap, i still can post them anyway
An hero is you!
Good for you, I guess. I was expecting something like "I dove in front of a car and saved an old lady" but this is good too.
Spectators win?
Okay.
did u die
After he called the police the men busted into his house shot him 5 times in the chest and ran out of the house and booked it. Bleeding out and barely able to breath he crawled over to his computer to post on facepunch
gas tanks don't explode
No one was harmed or in danger of being harmed so you are not a hero. but you did a good thing.
Surely a hero would be putting your life at risk to save others? You called a phone number. Intelligent, yes, heroic, no.
gas tanks don't explode
What. Gas's sole purpose is to be combustible.
No one was harmed or in danger of being harmed so you are not a hero. but you did a good thing.
There might have been an explosion from the Gas Station :)
Pics.
What. Gas's sole purpose is to be combustible.
Gas ignites. It does not explode. Combustion in a car's engine is explosive due to the high amount of pressure in the pistons, but open gasoline simply catches fire very quickly in the same way that a typical Molotov Cocktail will burst into flame, but not create any discernible explosion. Gasoline in a car's engine is a catalyst and a fuel for violent combustion, but it is the high amount of rapidly changing pressure that sustains an explosive effect. When a car catches aflame and the fire reaches the gas tank it merely makes a bigger flame. Cars do not blow up like they do in films, they merely catch on fire and then catch on fire a lot more.
When I came into this thread, I thought it would be something epic on how you beat the living crap out of some guys that were gonna gang rape a woman or something along that lines. I was disappointed. You're no hero, but you did a good deed.
So, You called the cops?
Hero story..
good job man, but why didn't you call earlier when they were trying to unlock it? :v: anyway good job you're an angel! :hr:
Can you post the pics?
gas tanks don't explode
I know what you mean but they didn't shoot the tank.
indeed i can, 10 minutes please. I need to sort something out
Jesus don't you kids watch Mythbusters?
Did you really say they HIJACKED a car!? Instead of stole a car?
Ok, its 4:36 in the morning.
I know what you mean but they didn't shoot the tank.
That is because the ambient heat from a bullet does not ignite gasoline. Gas can only be ignited by open flame, possibly a spark, or extreme temperatures and/or pressure. Bullets simply penetrate the casing and cause a leak, passing through the tank far too quickly and with too low a temperature to ignite. In standard pressure conditions that simply isn't enough to ignite, let alone create an explosive catalyst.
Jesus don't you kids watch Mythbusters?
Fumes are more deadly than a full tank. Thats why when you do welding on a vehicle you make sure that the gas tank is full.
yeah? do i deserve bad spelling or something? English isnt my native language
Right next to my house there is a telstra exchange (Australians would know that). If that would go in flames, not only the internet would die to half of my town, the electricity boards would explode, and then a major shock wave would come out and blow all the windows in the houses next to it.
NO INTERNET? You are one Hero. You saved the Internet.
it will soon be on the news, trust me. Ill film it from my TV and post on youtube.
Jesus don't you kids watch Mythbusters?
Surely the increased pressure and heat would cause atleast a small explosion of sorts.
