Right I've searched everywhere eand I can't seem to find a solution.
I'm sure most users are aware of the black screen caused by DivX but it is the only codec i've found that is praised for good quality when recording motion, specifically games.
Now I managed to get a good recording once - but that's it.
I really want to be able to record smooth gameplay so if anyone could help me resolve this, be it a fix or an alternative codec that works just as well: the help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.
Anything you upload to youtube will get converted to h264, so if that's probably your best choice.
I don't think you understand.
It uses codecs to compress, I'm pretty sure .h264 is a type of compression, not a codec.
I need a codec that is suitable for high motion recording - the built in TechSmith ones lag too muc hand the framerate is temperamental.
Are you trying to use Camtasia to record gameplay? That's not going to work afaik because it's a desktop recorder. You need something which will record games like Fraps or whatever you all use nowadays.
I'm almost certain that Camtasia is giving you this 'black screen' because it's trying to record the desktop and not the full screen application.
I don't know if I'm missing the point but try that?
I actually record my screen with codecs like Lagarith usually.
Also what resolution are you trying to capture. I have a very very powerful machine and even 1080p is tough to capture live. Try turning off aero.
