Having trouble running il2 sturmovik on windows 7 64 bit

Alright guys, just looking for a little help and/or advice here... I've recently found my il2 disk and have been wanting to play it, but am having trouble installing it.

The issue is that it won't autoplay, and I can't manually run the setup... it sits in task manager as a process but does nothing.

I've tried running the exe in compatibility mode for windows XP, turned of graphical mode (can't quite remember the technical term right now)... and am now a little stumped as to what else I can try.

I've just downloaded the windows xp virtualization pack for windows 7, to try when I get home... but other then that what else can I try?

These are my system specs:

umm, run the A.exe or something, EXPLORE there is something like A.exe, i don't remember run that and it will install your game, It helped for me.

Is A.exe on the IL2 disk, or an actual windows exe?

I searched for this on the disk, and nothing came up.
