Beware because this game just like skyrim is built like shit and does weird things with an unlocked frame rate.
The gameplay speed is tied to the frame rate
The gameplay speed is tied to the frame rate
same in skyrim
bethesda quality
I can't get past the character creation bit.
I take way too long with it and eventually it crashes. Son of a bitch Bethesda.
Not sure who to blame here, Bethesda or Gamebryo.
both
I can't believe the FoV fucks with simple shit, and that the speed of the game is tied to the framerate. I mean really, Bethesda what the shit man. There is not a single game where this is an acceptable practice. Unless it's some low quality turn based roguelike
What are you doing Bethesda. These things are PC gaming 101
This is an increasingly common practice and it worries me. Games where the animations and etc are tied to the framerate.
I'm also looking at you Dark Souls series.

I mean I like consoles too, they give people great games. But at least fix them up for PC standards.
If you guys don't like it. You can go and make your own fallout 4 you know.
Though it is weird that the frame rate makes the game faster but it doesn't stop how fun the game is.

This argument is the singlemost annoying thing you can make. We pay top dollar for these games and you complain that we're complaining about their quality at release? I mean, it's Bethesda, everyone knew it'd be broken at launch but I didn't expect it to not let me take my time making a character.

the fact that I can't lockpick correctly because the keyhole turns at a thousand miles a minute detracts from the fun
the fact that I keep getting physically stuck and unable to move even with console commands after exiting terminals detracts from the fun too

I don't understand WHY. Look at Killing Floor 2. Not a very large developer, especially not as large as Bethesda. Their game varies speed and framerates. The animations are done at ridiculously high framerates independent of the rest of the game....
There's no excuse to tie the entire game engine to a framerate, and the only reason is because they don't want to put in a couple days of extra dev time into their product down the line

I have no specific answer to this either, it doesn't even sound advantageous in any possible way.

To be fair, killing floor 2 uses UE3. A heavily modified version yes, but it's still UE3.

There is a separate beta version available for download in the game properties. The beta managed to solve my periodic crash issue.
Yeah I got to it now, completely fixed the consistent crashes I was having.
Everyone with consistent crashes should download the beta patch.

Bahahaha, what horse shit is that?

actually to even has any hope in making anything like FO4 you would need millions of dollars and a whole team of people with skills.
Maybe if this was people complaining about a 1 man made indie game.
Why frame rate affects the speed at which things go:
while (true){
move characters ahead by 1 cm
calculate shit
draw the frame
wait a microsecond so we don't get ahead of our 60 FPS and ruin the way the characters move.
}
Increasing the frame rate will make it go and move characters / do other actions more often, so they're faster.
The proper way to do it, if you only have one thread is:
while (true){
move characters ahead by ( 1 * time it took to make the last frame ) cm
calculate shit
draw the frame
}
the real proper way to do things however is to thread it so one cpu does
while (true){
move characters ahead by ( 1 * time it took to make the last frame ) cm
calculate shit
}
and the other does
while (true) {
draw the frame
}

I was making the point that the game isn't 100% broken I would say its not even close to 25% all of these things are people trying to tweak the game to get it to "run better" on their system. You can't bitch that a game is broken when you try to mess with it so it runs better on your system. Now that being said the whole frame rate and speed thing is pretty fucking crazy I don't even know why that's a thing. So yes that is a problem but does it stop your from beating or playing the game no just leave the setting alone that caps the frame rate to level that the guys who made the game say it can run at with out causing issue. If you don't of course your going to have an issue.
I wasn't even talking about that issue. I was talking mainly about the fact that it DIDN'T came ready for PC at all, if it so much as senses a controller it'll default to that which is nifty and all... IF IT ASKED ABOUT IT FIRST. "Would you like to use the Controller you have?" at the beginning of the game would go miles.
I booted the game and was introduced to a world where I had no kind of input at all, keyboard didn't work and mouse wasn't showing, I had to google this to find out it was defaulting to the controller being predominant.
Then my game kept crashing every 12 minutes, as said before, I TIMED this. Every single time 12 minutes give or take, it'd crash. Turns out it was the so called xaudio ctd, which has now been fixed with the beta patch.
But as you see these are things that should've been tweaked before the game got rushed out the window, not to mention tying the animations and whatever to the FPS is the weirdest dumb idea to grace the developing world recently. In most PC games, the FPS will fluctuate... Don't tie fulcral stuff to that if it's not going to be 30/60fps at all times.
And I shouldn't have to google for weird stuff that's happening to my game off the bat, straight after installing.
Is the game locked at 30 or 60 fps? If its 60 it doesn't seem so bad.
Pretty much the Fallout 3 fov tweaks... same shit.
But the game runs awful nonetheless...
Is the game locked at 30 or 60 fps? If its 60 it doesn't seem so bad.
It's 60.
Heh, knew the FOV was smaller than it should be. Was feeling really tight on the eyes.
yeah sorry this is unacceptable from any dev in 2015
99.99% of games just use a deltatime, incredibly easy to use and wouldn't restrict anything to framerate
i cannot think of a single reason why bethesda would limit the game being run off of 60 fps only
disabling hardware mouse acceleration and adjusting vertival and horizontal sensitivity
Do they not have spell checker over at pcgamesn?
I've found an interesting bug that also apparently happens on the xbone
If you have a 5400rpm hard drive, the game periodically locks up to 0fps and then you'll literally teleport to a different part of the game world.
