What's your favourite genre of music?
Post-punk, new wave, alternative/indie rock, sludge metal. I listen to a lot of genres though, from grindcore to jazz to avant-garde to noise.
It varies depending on what mood I'm in, but I bounce around between my newfound love of Jazz-Rock Fusion and Symphonic Rock.
God dammit, we need more poll options so then I could put all of your subgenres in.

I only listen to shoegaze and electrofolk bands.
Metal :frogc00l: More specifically, melodic death and folk metal. Although I do like other things. Rock I like. Old rap is good, and aggrotech and EBM and stuff are cool
Drum & Bass, Neurofunk, Dubstep & French Electro.
older hard trance releases

Different personalities lie within different genres of expression. No particular favorite style of expression here sorry. Include jazz and blues as they are mighty respected genres. [editline]08:05PM[/editline]
I only listen to shoegaze and electrofolk bands.
:v:
Dark ambient, Drum n bass, Breakcore Psychedelic can join my list to
Hip-Hop
Stupid genre bullshit. Folk/World music, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock & Electronic (though electronic is more of a technical advancement that was applied to the other genres, resulting in new genres) are the main genres. All the rest is either a mix or a derivative. Actually it's quite pointless in general all the genre stuff. It used to be that the genre name came AFTER the musical current, these days it's almost at the same time that people stick music in boxes as soon as it emerges.
What's nerdcore? Where the hell is Jazz?
Where the hell is Classic rock
it passed away
What's nerdcore? Where the hell is Jazz?
Nerdcore is just hip-hop with "nerdy" lyrical themes.
Nerdcore is just hip-hop with "nerdy" lyrical themes.
I thought the general consensus was lyrics don't define the genre?
I thought the general consensus was lyrics don't define the genre?
Yeah that's why I don't really consider it a genre.
I thought the general consensus was lyrics don't define the genre?
Which is why it's a stupid 'genre'
it's not really a genre it's just a group of nerdy musicians
Alternative country and folk music. Punk and classic rock are awesome too.
it's not really a genre it's just a group of nerdy musicians
They just made up a genre to feel better about their nerdiness quite obviously on really the one thing that doesn't affect the genre of music. The lyrics.
Thrash Metal, Groove Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal, NWOBHM, Hardcore Punk, Punk Rock, Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Rhythm 'N Blues
I picked heavy metal. Also, what's the goddamn difference between hip-hop and rap?
RnB, something for easy listening :)
Sorry I didn't put Jazz, but there weren't enough options. Ugh, I shouldn't have put nerdcore...
