TONY Abbott's public foray into sexual politics will "confirm the worst fears of Australian women", the Deputy Prime Minister says. As the Opposition Leader yesterday defended an interview he gave with The Australian Women's Weekly in which he referred to a woman's virginity as a "gift", he came under fire from Australian women, including Julia Gillard, many of whom found his comments old-fashioned, unwelcome and obtrusive. Ms Gillard -- once criticised by Mr Abbott for lacking "broader lifetime experience" -- said Australian women, "don't want to be lectured by Mr Abbott". "These comments will confirm the worst fears of Australian women about Tony Abbott. Australian women don't want to be told what to do by Tony Abbott," she said. In The Australian Women's Weekly article, Mr Abbott said he would advise his three daughters not to give away their virginity "lightly" and try to adhere to the "rules" on sex before marriage. Defending his comments on Melbourne 3AW radio yesterday, the Opposition Leader said one's virginity was "the greatest gift" you could give someone. "(Women) shouldn't give themselves away lightly," the former Catholic seminarian said. Vote for independents!

I hate Australia some times.
I feel sorry for the Australians. First they fucked up your internet, then small tits, and now this :saddowns:
What are they all whining about? I agree with him. Virginity is something you shouldn't give away lightly. Did he actually say anything about changing the law regarding it? Or was he just commenting? I don't see any problem with this at all.
Why has Australia been so fucking stupid lately? It makes me embarrassed to be their neighbor. New Zealand is a thousand times better.
New Zealand over Australia any day. I mean, they even get snow.
Australia seems like a horrible place to live, all their laws seem to force personal beliefs.
Tony Abbot is a fucking dickhead. He's always been an absolute muppet and I have no idea why he's leader of the liberal party.
The sad part is this doesn't surprise me.
Why... why is virginity such a gift? I always thought there was a social stigma on having your virginity for a long time. Hence they created The 40 Year Old Virgin. I want him to show me one rational argument against sex before marriage.
Virginity isn't some magical gift
former Catholic seminarian
people like this shouldn't be allowed in politics
He said fuck responsibly. Nothing about abstaining or religious morals. From what I can tell all he said was "Please think before you fuck." What's the big deal? You guys afraid of women who think before they decide to have sex with you? He's right. You gotta be responsible about sex or it can fuck over your life. Especially young girls, they'd be the ones with child, where the men have ample opportunity to walk away should they choose. They ought to be careful they aren't being manipulated by a scumbag, virgins especially because they are naive on the entire subject.

Inbefore law against sex before marriage since it's promoting pedophilia and terrorism.
I think that 15-18 is good age to lose your virginity.
I pretty much agree with Tony Abbott on this. No unwanted pregnancies and/or diseases. Best of all, no aborted fetuses.

Australia, soon to be the newest 3rd world country.
What the fuck has been happening to my country the last few years?

[editline]10:13PM[/editline] Some couples don't want to be married. Should that stop them from having sex?
Nah, it's pretty much always been this stupid, it just gets reported more now.
Courtesy of the great destroyer of civil liberties Michael Atkinson, the grandiose stupidity that runs through Australia is now being shoved into the spotlight.
This makes me want to smash things!
