• Anyone know of any decent alternatives to the iPod Touch?

I'm saving up for an 8GB apple iPod Touch which is reasonably priced on amazon, by amazon, for £139. But I was wondering; What's the big deal about Ipod Touches and iPohnes? There are hundreds, possibly thousands of alternatives to the apple iPhone, but I've never heard of any decent alternatives to the iPod touch. My question is this: Are there any decent, reasonably priced touch screen MP3 players out there? Thanks in advance. Edit: I hate this piece of shit with a fucking passion: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kubik-Screen-Player-Built-YouTube/dp/B001H39LZO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260399056&sr=8-7
Zune is shit. Just get an iPod.
Go for something larger than 8GB. That's not alot for music, and the touch has all the other bits and bobs to add to it.

I'd get an iPod, but I hate iTunes. And it acts all funny when I use it.
Clearly you have no clue what you're talking about.
There are features that I really like on the Zune, and the screen is just flawless. The only thing I don't like is the absence of internet access on the older models.
ZuneHD. Get the iPod touch though if you don't care much for music/media and would mostly use the touch device for apps and internet, as it does that better. ZuneHD however has better music and video quality plus the Zune Pass ($15 a month gets you unlimited music and 10 songs to have for keeps every month even if you no longer pay the subscription). Not to mention a better battery life and OLED screen with a kick ass interface. There's always other brands too like cowen S9 I believe, which I hear are rather good for music lovers. Never used one though. [editline]10:43PM[/editline]
There are features that I really like on the Zune, and the screen is just flawless.
ZuneHD. Uhh the latest one has internet access.
I have the original :c.
Does this zune contraption have apps? Rate me dumb, but I'm kind of getting an iPod for the apps.
It does but if you want apps get the iPod touch. App support for Zune is limited to whenever microsoft decides to release apps. Only a selection of about 20 apps/games atm, and while several of which are very very good games (audiosurf for example), the iPod touch simply has much more due to it being totally open doors (which also means a billion apps are shit). However apps for Zune are free while iPod's will cost you money. Bottom line if you want apps you are better off getting the ipod touch.

I've got a 512MB Creative Zen and I barely use more than half of it, you're off your rocker [editline]05:53PM[/editline]
Zune is shit. Iphone
zune is shit. Just get an ipod.
hurr durr fanboy elitism! Durr da hurr! Unlike the Ipod the zune also allows you to put your own music and videos onto it with out the zune app right? Because we hated having to buy all my movies again from Itunes when my bro got an ipod touch.
I'd say the ZuneHD or the Creative X-fi2.
Are you kidding me? I've got a 512MB Creative Zen and I barely use more than half of it, you're off your rocker
I find that hard to believe.
Are you kidding me? I've got a 512MB Creative Zen and I barely use more than half of it, you're off your rocker
why do you hate music
You only have like 10 songs then.
No, I think 10 a month, Itunes you get a song for a dollar right? Well the zune lets you for 10$ a month listen to any song and keep 10 of them, or a song for a dollar. Aka better deal as you get to listen to any song. And if you are smart you can cheat the system and get free songs after that 10. I however will not tell you how as I am lazy and/or do not want to.
I find that hard to believe.
Bitches don't know bout my music. I've got quite enough music. I have a 512 mb coby 5 $ mp3, held 130 songs for me and lasted 3 years before it finaly fucked up and won't start anymore. It still works as a jump drive though. and I dropped it in a pool, sat on it countless times, fell on it snowboarding countless times, etc...
Simple ZuneHD for song and video quality (and nagging from mactards) iPod Touch for apps.
Zune HD is great, BUT if it wasn't for the fucking insane things that the ipod touch can do with the thousands of apps i would have one, but because of fucking insane apps i have an ipod touch. Other then apps, Zune HD is better in every way.
I know what I want for christmas now.
Don't expect the full blown version just smaller. It's pretty much only a simplified version of the mono game mode, but still a lot of fun to play.

The kids version of the iPod is actually just as functional as the original when Jailbroken. iTouch Kids

Get a Cowon, great for Music and Video. My brother got one and it's pretty fuckin sweet, you can put an HD movie on there in its original format (no converting) and watch it straight on there, or plug it into an HDTV and watch it in high def. The Cowon S9 is probably what you'd want. Not to mention it's gorgeous:
ZuneHD was quite good, or so I've heard. Also, 700th post.
