Hey guys,
I am currently experiencing a very frustrating issue with Team Fortress 2. Every time I launch the game, the game would launch and seem fine. This sense of relief disappears once you click on something in the game. If I click anywhere in game, whether it be my backpack or loadout screen, the game would crash to desktop, without any warning whatsoever.
This started happening yesterday, when I logged into Steam and as soon as I did, Team Fortress 2 opened on it's own automatically non-stop. As soon as I closed it, another opened almost instantly. I was unable to log out of Steam, which left me with the option of rebooting my computer.
Once I rebooted, I proceeded to log back into Steam and launch TF2. Then said problem started happening and has been ever since.
I have done a verification of the game cache along with deleting any mods that I have. This did not work, so I performed a full reinstall of the game. This also did not solve the problem.
Along with this problem, all my Steam settings reset themselves. I have no issue with this, as I can reset them all again, I just thought I'd mention it if it helps with any investigation for a solution.
Anyone know how to solve this? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Knowing that you already verified the cache and reinstalled the game, I think you may have been infected, because TF2 re-opening on it's own is weird as shit, I suggest doing a scan with MalwareBytes.
