• PS : How to do a gradient of a pattern

What's the easiest and most editable way of making a pattern that fades overtop of a color? Meaning the background color doesn't fade just the pattern. I tried this [URL="http://www.skinyourscreen.com/site/Articles/creating-gradient-faded-patterns"]tutorial[/URL] but it was a mess I believe. Any help or better walkthrough? Thanks
erase the top of the pattern layer? [editline]6th January 2012[/editline] with a soft brush. [editline]6th January 2012[/editline] place the gradient layer above the pattern layer.

make a gradient as a layer mask
make two layers, put pattern on top colour on bottom, go to layers > layer mask > reveal all, then take a soft brush and paint black overtop of whatever you want faded, or apply a black to white gradient
Photoshop? - Select the layer that you want to 'gradientize' - Click on "Create layer mask" (bottom right corner, it's a rectangle with a circle in it) - Select the gradient tool with a black and white gradient - Click and drag
Thanks guys, confused the hell out of me at first on how to get it done properly.
