Sorry game's already dead no matter how much they try after that catastrophic launch
I haven't played the game in two weeks because it has taken them over a month to release a much needed balance patch. However, back then there was around about 2-3k concurrent players and I didn't have any issues with matchmaking then, and the numbers haven't changed much. I had over 100 hours played.
In fact, with the Steam sale there will likely be more players now.
I'll start playing again once the new monster and balance patch are released by the 31st. You can't really blame them for trying to keep the game alive though. Even if you don't have the DLC (which I don't, with the exception of the Behemoth preorder DLC) the new hunters you can play alongside and monsters you fight spice the game up without having to invest more money. Actually buying access to the new stuff (don't do that until they drop the price though) would probably further increase longevity.
Hope this doesn't stir up shit. Just pointing out that having actually played the game for a very good amount of time, the game isn't so dead than you can't find matches. The longest I've waited for matchmaking was probably about a minute.

This is of course ignoring the consoles. As far as I'm aware Evolve is far from dead over there.

3k players at peak is pretty bad
3k players at peak is pretty bad
Definitely yeah, it pretty much bombed player wise. Doesn't mean it's dead though, especially considering a full match only needs 5 people compared to multiplayer games where 16+ is the minimum.
Difference between this and a dead game is that you can still reliably get matched up with people, so unless matchmaking has shit itself in the last two weeks which is doubtful, people are going to be getting matched just as well now as they were when I was playing. There was never a time where I didn't find a game that had less than 3 non AIs, and the times when people disconnected early the slot got filled up pretty quick.
I don't think it's accurate to call a game dead when you aren't really worrying about getting put in empty games.
It's not entirely dead yet but it's looking pretty bad when you lose ~90% of the players in little over a month

Especially when you look at games that are placed near Evolve on Steam stats
