Why is everyone trying to hop on the MOBA train lately? First a LOTR MOBA which looks and sounds terrible, and now this idea? Seems like a weird direction.
I'm calling it now. It will suck
Wtf is a moba
Wtf is a moba
DotA, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, etc. Frankly it's a genre that doesn't need to exist considering how goddamn similar they all are.
Sounds like someone in charge of publishing saw what's making all the money.

League of Legends now has more active players than world of warcraft and just streaming its season 2 tournament apparently used 5% of all of the bandwidth in North America. Riot games is rolling in dough and the same way it happened with world of warcraft now everybody is going to want a piece of that [editline]10th October 2012[/editline]
DotA, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, etc. Frankly it's a genre that doesn't need to exist considering how goddamn similar they all are.
The reason they're all so goddamn similar is because of the events that took place. Dota was popular, somebody decided to make it into a real game that could make money minus copyright infringement, hence HoN. Meanwhile, the creator of dota allstars (Guinsoo) wanted the same thing - hence LoL. Then, Valve decided to cash in on just remaking the original with the most recent developer of Dota, icefrog. The reason all the games is so similar is because they came from one game. I still think there's a lot of room for good mobas that play differently.
Dead Space Dota Confirmed
DotA, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, etc. Frankly it's a genre that doesn't need to exist considering how goddamn similar they all are.
Stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena
What is going through their heads during meetings? "We have to compete with LoL and Dota 2, both two extremely well known and played games that are just getting bigger and bigger and wont be going anywhere any time soon, this is such a good idea"
I think Smite is a pretty cool take on mobas. Also, would Monday Night Combat and Awesomenauts be considered mobas?
A MOBA is a "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena". I mean, it's pretty damn vague to begin with, it's just tied to games like DOTA, LoL and HoN. I'd say both Monday Night Combat and Awesomenauts are part of that genre.
i'm sorry but what in the everloving fuck would this be about necromorphs vs humans? "HUEUHEHU SLASHER PLS OR REPOT"
It definitely won't be able to compete with Dota 2 or LoL.

We have a genre called real time strategy even though plenty of other games are real time and involve strategy. Yes though, Awesomenauts and MNC are mobas.
i'm sorry but what in the everloving fuck would this be about necromorphs vs humans? "HUEUHEHU SLASHER PLS OR REPOT"
Why does it have to be about deadspace? It's not like valve included headcrabs as a playable character in dota 2... yet.
You can see that they just want to attract LoL players by saying "MOBA", the term that was created and only used by Riot Games. Much like Smite did. Guess what the game failed to be relevant.
There are plenty of non tradition MOBA's, Smite, Super Monday Night Combat, Awesomenauts, etc But yeah another dota/LoL clone is not needed (I know LoL is technically a Dota clone but really at the time it was the only modern game engine dota clone, it raised the bar)
read that as MOAB
After playing Starcraft for so long, moba's are just too boring and easy to me in comparison. I don't see why they need to exist, let alone have more of them.

If they're going to do a traditional 5v5 DotA-esque MOBA then they have no chance against LoL and DotA.

Even though I would barely consider either to have modern day game engines since they both look about as impressive as the first dota. Fps is no longer a genre because its filled with too many COD clones. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
A MOBA is a "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena". Besides the 2 genres play completely differently. Its not like I would stop playing Dark souls because competitive fighting games are harder.
Frankly it's a genre that doesn't need to exist considering how goddamn similar they all are.
What a stupid thing to say.
Defence of the PULPY 2
Stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena
That's incredibly vague.
That's incredibly vague.
Which is why ASSFAGGOTS is surprisingly a better acronym.
I'm so sick of this fucking MOBA trend.
