• 9800GTX+ with another NVidia card, could I use more then two monitors?

i dont think so, usually you would have to buy a box like the triple head to go, [url]http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/[/url] the adapter takes three screens, and when plugged into your graphics card tricks it into thinking they're all one big screen
Yes you can easily use more than two monitors as long as one of the graphics cards supports dual monitors, which the GTX+ does. If you don't mind using VGA for at least one of them(barring dual DVI ports on any of your cards) then it shouldn't be a problem.
I had the same situation as you a year ago and yes it all worked out fine

Modern Ati cards (6000 series) support like 5 monitors out of the box, only two DVI though so the rest need to be native displayport or you need active adapters.

I wish you luck OP, I've had nothing but problems with the 9800 series.
