If you haven't figured out by now that Maxis is just a puppet with EA's hand up its ass, I don't know what could make it clearer.

EA wanted the DRM. EA is the one who runs the servers. EA are the ones refusing to refund the people pissed off that their $60 game didn't work for over a fucking week.
