A government whistleblower revealed that Trading Standards officials had found chimp meat being sold during a raid in the Midlands, telling the Sunday Mercury: 'It is well known this practice is underway in the region but I was shocked to discover the meat that was tested was once a chimpanzee.
'Dubious meat is often tested, and has turned out to be things like rats and vermin in the past – but chimpanzee is unbelievable.'
It is thought that as much as five tonnes of bushmeat a week arrives in Europe, and is then sold on via markets and wholesalers.
Dr Marcus Rowcliffe, research fellow at the Zoological Society of London, said that while it is no surprise that bushmeat is on sale in the UK, it is strange to see chimpanzee, as it is rare even in Africa.
Last year, a report detailed in the journal Conservation Letters found that nine of 134 passengers arriving in Europe on 29 flights from African nations were carrying bushmeat.
Overall, 11 species were found, including types of primates, two kinds of crocodiles and three rodent species, reported the BBC.[/quote]

Well, like the research fellow said, it's absolutely no surprise that some bushmeat is getting into the country and being sold, but like he said, the presence of chimpanzee is worrying because they aren't exactly common animals (nor easy to catch)

I don't really like the idea of eating a monkey, seeing they share what is I think 99% of our DNA? It would feel cannibalistic.
I'd feel bad eating Chimpanzee meat. It's almost be like cannibalism. =/
