So it's a copy of the many other Doom mods?
How the fuck is this news? I've played brutal doom and all the smaller guns had ironsight.
WHAT TREACHERY IS THIS
who cares looking down the sights is a video game standard, god forbid someone go back and add it to a game that doesn't have it (lots of mods already do this)
3 years late, pal.
like basically any weapon mod does this, why dont you report on the 50000 other doom wads that do this PCGamesN?
Isn't the Doomguy basically always looking down the sights anyway?
Um hi the weapons and music are a part of Brutal Doom, not DOOM:ONE. The person who wrote this really has no fucking clue what he's talking about.
Surprisingly not the worst PCGamesN article I've ever read.
Isn't the Doomguy basically always looking down the sights anyway?
Technically he isn't. Doomguy looks like he holds it to his chest in first person view, and I don't think looking down the sights means "hold a BFG close to my chest"
I really don't get why people bitch and cry about ironsights in games. Really, can someone explain this to me?
I really don't get why people bitch and cry about ironsights in games. Really, can someone explain this to me?
It's heavily associated with the change from Doom/Quake/old-style shooters to modern shooters like Call of Duty and its ilk. It's associated with stuff like shooting-gallery stop-and-pop game design which conflicts completely with the run-and-gun of the old. Honestly I like iron sights.

I could name a few shooters that have ironsights and are pretty run and gun-ny. The new ROTT remake and Serious Sam 3 come to mind.

"Man, this mechanic is used in pretty much all of the games of this style that I don't like. Therefore I see it as a negative mechanic and want it to stay away from the type of games that I like."
*cough cough* Brutal doom. *cough cough* Seriously, almost any of Doom's mods have this. Why is this one special?
Because it's the first one where somebody from this site noticed the iron sights. Seriously, this doesn't matter, unless the author does something stupid that goes against the gameplay like make you fire wildly inaccurately until you use them.
Because in a game like doom where the hitboxes are fucking enormous you REALLY need iron sights.
I really don't get why people bitch and cry about ironsights in games. Really, can someone explain this to me?
I find it just generally more fun to shoot shit from the word go in games. I don't really care if it's not realistic, I play games to get away from reality not simulate it.
For the record Brutal Doom is fucking amazing. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline]
Because in a game like doom where the hitboxes are fucking enormous you REALLY need iron sights.
It's actually helpful when you have cross-hairs disabled with free-look enabled and you're fighting enemies at mid to long range. And as far as I'm concerned, Doom is meant to be played without cross-hairs.
Surprisingly not the worst PCGamesN article I've ever read.
Yeah the one where they say that ArmA 2 is shit without DayZ is definitely the worst.
For the record Brutal Doom is fucking amazing.
I like some of the gameplay changes, the assault rifle is a fun weapon and excellent replacement for the pistol. But at some point the gore just gets really annoying, I stop caring about the gore unless I can get a quick 'cruelty bonus' of some extra health. And all the accompanying sounds are really loud; freeing the marines is a partial earrape in and of itself. v:v:v Whoever made this article apparently has never seen Brutal Doom before and doesn't realize the video is a beta showing off a mappack while using BD. Geez louise.. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Okay, so they edited the article to actually acknowledge that bit.
who cares looking down the sights is a video game standard, god forbid someone go back and add it to a game that doesn't have it (lots of mods already do this)
Everyone knows CoD invented iron sights and that's a bad game so if you add iron sights to something like doom you're saying it's a bad game!!!!!
me taking a poop in the bathroom is a better story than most pcgames articles.
