At a technical media briefing on Thursday evening, Education Minister Heng Swee Keat said the decision was made as a precaution, as air quality could enter Hazardous levels.
This is the first time I've ever experienced school closing down due to air pollution. Even for those who are new to this, you can know the air pollution here is seriously bad when even schools have to be closed down.
Don't forget, this is by Singaporean standards as well. People are probably choking on the air.
How the fuck do you escape the hazard of toxic air? Air is fucking everywhere. Is it common for homes in Singapore to have heavy-duty air filtration systems or something?

Looks like it's recommended to wear N95 masks - just how common is it to see people wearing these masks? How well do they work?
What the fuck are you doing, humans [editline]24th September 2015[/editline] And 30% of CO2 gets absorbed by Ocean.. there it converts into fucking acid. Hear me right again: Fucking ACID

Oh, and military grade gas masks are banned. So I am going to buy this tomorrow.
Why are military grade gas masks banned? That's odd considering the air pollution..
Why are military grade gas masks banned? That's odd considering the air pollution..
Cause its Singapore, we ban everything. Okay, honestly, no idea, maybe it could be for if terrorists want to do a gas attack they have ways to protect themselves (this is just my assumption) Also, took this earlier tonight, this is in the main city area.
How the fuck do you escape the hazard of toxic air? Air is fucking everywhere. Is it common for homes in Singapore to have heavy-duty air filtration systems or something?
Most of these visible pollutants in air are dust particles and these settle and stick to stuff so even closing your windows and letting all airflow to be limited to the small crevices in your home will filter the worst of it out. Meanwhile a school has a lot of people who need oxygen in small space, which means you have to circulate in air in high enough volume from the outside or it will get fucking nasty, so you can't get that degree of filtration.
No singapore, this is not how you do a hazing ritual.

I'd go with a combination filter as opposed to a straight particulate filter if you do get that 3M respirator. It'll be pink with a yellow band, like this: [t]http://www.coopersafety.com/3M-60926-Multi-Gas-Vapor-P100-Cartridge-2-Pack.jpeg?id=48982&W=600&H=600[/t] [editline]24th September 2015[/editline]
Most of these visible pollutants in air are dust particles and these settle and stick to stuff so even closing your windows and letting all airflow to be limited to the small crevices in your home will filter the worst of it out. I live in a city, but the concept of things actually being shut down and people being forced to wear masks is totally alien to me. How do things get so bad?
I live in a city, but the concept of things actually being shut down and people being forced to wear masks is totally alien to me. How do things get so bad?
Massive forest fires.
Does air conditioning count?
Very likely not as air conditioners aren't designed to purify air. Basically once you turn one on the air is feeded against the evaporator grill, which has the coolant absorbing the heat from the grill and then casts the treated air back into the room. Once the air is drawn in it runs through a filter which merely removes dust and other minor impurities from the air.

how about the fact back in 2013 there's this piece of shit indo minister told you guys to stop whining? This one http://jakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news/indonesia-says-singapore-behaving-like-a-child-over-haze/
How the fuck do you escape the hazard of toxic air? Air is fucking everywhere. Is it common for homes in Singapore to have heavy-duty air filtration systems or something?
If they die in school its the schools responsibility. Also bad for insurance.

If it can be used during biological risk it sure as hell can protect you from the haze.
