I want to setup a server for me and my friends to play on for various games. I set up my PC with a static IP and go to my router, which is a linksys E1000.
I go to port forwarding and enter in the port numbers for my IP and enable port forwarding. I check to see if my ports are open with CanYouSeeMe.org, nothing.
I thought it was my firewall so i disabled all of it just to make sure, still nothing. Also, I'm on AT@T DSL. Any one have any ideas why its not working?
You aren't going to be seen unless there is a specific application open to handle incoming applications on those ports. What happens when you don't have the service (your server) open is that you get a request but your computer throws away the packets because there is nothing to respond to them. Start the server and then try the test. I am assuming you set everything up properly.
