The devices made by Gary Bolton, 47, were simply boxes with handles and antennae, the Old Bailey heard. The prosecution said he sold them for up to £10,000 each, claiming they could detect explosives. The trial heard the firm had a £3m annual turnover selling the homemade devices. Bolton, of Redshank Road, Chatham, Kent, had denied two charges of fraud. As he passed sentence, Judge Richard Hone QC described the equipment as "useless" and "dross" and said Bolton had damaged the reputation of British trade abroad
Good fucking riddance. Sometimes I wonder how many people in places like Iraq have died of car bombs that weren't detected by these scams.
You'd think that they'd have done some sort of a test or something to determine if the bomb detector actually worked
His Roose didn't fool us!
You'd think that they'd have done some sort of a test or something to determine if the bomb detector actually worked
It's not even the first time it's happened, there was the Quadro Tracker in '93-96. Then there's Sniffex which is still being sold, albeit as "plus" and by a different company.

It was essentially a dowsing rod salad thrown into a lake of psuedoscientific language dressing. I do think this guy deserves a life sentence. He sold these dowsing rods to the Iraqi authorities and others - lives were lost because of him.
What an utter cunt. How can you live knowing that your scam can and probably will result in deaths?
