Hello folks!
I want to buy my wery own MacBook Pro(keep in mind this is my 1st apple laptop). So after doing my research I found out they have a sort of decent hardware in them. But I can't realy decide if I should get it or not so in my desperate atempt to find the answer I turned to Facepunch! I'm going to use the MacBook Pro for everyday work like surfing the web, chating with my buds, browsing Facepunch & Facebook. I might play a few games from time to time but nothing special(Got a destkop for that).
So Apple Section what say you?
The MacBook Pro I was looking at is the one and the only Apple MacBook Pro 2500

***Is it worth buying a MacBook Pro***
Edit:
Thanks for the positive answers guys! *Orders a MacBook Pro*
That is a first/second generation unibody MacBook Pro.
Try get a 13" MacBook from apple, it will do everything you need
13" Macbook Pro is an excellent choice, using mine myself this very moment.
I am using my 13 inch MBP to agree with the previous statement
go hackintosh
I like my 15 inch Macbook Pro, it handles all of my design work without a hitch; loads photoshop CS5 very fast. My only problem with it is that it gets very hot during intensive tasks (such as gaming or having multiple Adobe products open at the same time) but besides that it stays relatively cool. I really can't go into gaming that much though, I tried playing tf2 on it but it ran horridly; so I just gave up on it all together.

What quality settings?

it's a driver issue. Steam is working with Apple, Nvidia, and ATI to fix it.

I thought Apple used NVIDIA graphics cards?
I was looking into buying a Mac of some sort. I'm not sure what to do, iMac or Macbook Pro to save space because I already have a Windows based PC set-up. They both seem pretty expensive, too.

they use Intel, ATI, and Nvidia. but mostly Nvidia.

if space is an issue get the Mac Mini.

Correction to my previous post; they use ATI cards?

I was thinking they didn't because Hackintoshing is apparently harder if you have an ATI card... or maybe I'm getting that and Intel vs AMD for Hackintoshing mixed up
They've been known to use both ATI and Nvidia IIRC.

I'd say perhaps a MacBook Pro - use the PC as a gaming machine, or anything you need to do serious grunt work with. iMac isn't so useful when you have a PC already! (Plus, Trackpad is awesome!)
go hackintosh
What's the point? The Mac offers ease of use above everything else - hackintosh just wrecks that user experience IMHO
The thing that TF2 is running slowly is indeed a driver problem... But when we get to see more intensive games, it's up to Apple to supply the sufficient hardware. So I guess they will be launching a "Gaming" Mac..

Like we don't have enough expensive MAC's alerady...

Not a good idea to bash Apple in the "Apple" section.
I'm using my 15-inch unibody MBP to say go for it.
LOLOLOL MAC SUX
:bandwagon:
Nah, they're quite cool, except for the part they can't run .exe stuff, and 13 inch is quite good

Yep, my iMac uses an ATI 2600 Pro
I have a 15" but I would prefer to have one of the current gen 13".
I got my 15" i5 a few days ago. Loving it so far. I got it mainly for school work but I play some games on it too (tf2, css, lotro).
I just got a 13" yesterday, and I'm loving it. It's my first Mac, and so far its the best computer I've ever owned. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I'l keep that in mind next time I post :)
Alrighty then.
Anyway, it happens that I'm actually considering getting a laptop, and one of the ones I'm looking at is a 13" MBP, but I'm not sure on how well it performs with TF2 and Photoshop, two applications that I love... anyone know? And for TF2, what average FPS at what settings?
Also, a friend of mine notes that Windows on Macbooks uses up battery life ridiculously quickly - is this true?

Medium/High settings with no AA will be reasonably playable with roughly 40 FPS on an entry i5 with nothing else running in the background IMO. On Windows, battery life gets consumed at a much faster rate as Windows doesn't have the drivers needed to handle graphics switching, so it's always forced on the dedicated. That and it doesn't have what's needed to control fan speeds so it's always very damn hot.
If you are looking into gaming on your laptop, a Windows based PC is the way to go. Not because Mac still needs some drivers to run Source games flawlessly, but simply because the GPU in Windows laptop equally priced iis better. ALOT better. I think you could get a much faster laptop ffor that kind of money, but if you like OSX, sure, get a Mac. JUst don't count on playing games like BF:BC2 and such. No way a Mac is going to play that well.
No no, you have to do like this;
Bootcamp
/Whine
Or I guess that was what you meant.
