According to several local reports, Foxconn’s Terry Gou made some pretty bold statements at Hon Hai Precision’s annual meeting of shareholders on Monday. While there are a few translations, all seem to claim Gou urged customers to wait for the iPhone 5, “saying that the new model will put Samsung’s Galaxy III to shame.” A report from Focus Taiwan quoted China Times:
Gou said he has made it a lifetime goal to defeat Samsung — “a company with a track record of snitching on its competitors.”… He was referring to Samsung’s action in 2010 of snitching on four Taiwanese companies in an investigation by the European Commission on price-fixing in the flat panel industry…Samsung was exempted from the investigation by serving as a “tainted witness.” … Gou also urged consumers to wait for the launch of Apple’s iPhone 5, saying that the new model will put Samsung’s Galaxy III to shame.
Gou also apparently claimed that Foxconn’s Sakai plant “has an exclusive agreement with Corning Inc., an American manufacturer of glass, on large panel supply,” and his “competitors will not be able to secure any such material if they wished to.” We are going to wait to see if Foxconn issues a statement regarding these quotes, because we know a couple of stories in recent months misquoted Gou…
“I respect the Japanese and especially like their execution and communication styles,” Gou said, “Unlike the Koreans, they will not hit you from behind.”
Reports in May quoted Gou as claiming Apple was “making preparations” for an Apple television. The reports later turned out to be false. Foxconn said Gou “neither [confirmed] nor [speculated] about Foxconn’s involvement in the production of any product.”

I think the best part is the comments he makes about the Koreans.
Copy and paste, that is all it will be.
[editline]fuckyou[/editline]
Also, I think he means that the Galaxy S III will put the new Iphone "To Shame"
He mixed up his words a little bit.
Oh man, that second to last line is gold.
Someone that isnt apple announcing a apple product?
Looks like someone is about to get in trouble.
If they are so confident about it then why are they trying to block Samsung's product sales?
Because Foxconn isn't the one blocking sales.

It's not like it's a secret Apple is going to release a new iPhone this fall anyway.
[editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
It's pretty much a given.
This made me think about that "iphone 5 showcase" video that was just some guy showing the cool fx he could do but people i know still strongly believe it's not fake.
i'm getting a galaxy s3 as soon as i'm eligible for an upgrade.
next year.
iPhone 5 is coming, reported to be better than phones released before it.
Oh my god so surprised holy shit
-snip apparently facepunch disagrees with me thinking holographic displays are not possible as of yet-
You mean this?

Yeah, maybe if it had these features it'd blow the S3 out of the water, but uh
doubt it
If the iPhone actually did have these features, and managed to somehow have the technology to make fucking 3D holograms, then it'd definitely blow every phone, hell, every major piece of technology, out of the water. Thing is, that technology isn't going to happen for a very long time.

Hence the "DOUBT IT"

...released after or not, still not believing it. I mean they released the 4S with worse specs than the S2 with the exception of the screen dpi (although the s2 still has a higher resolution).
Laser keyboards have been around for a while now

The one in the iPhone 5 vid is probably fake though. I'll believe it when I see it.

It's just a special effects video someone made on youtube, people make random videos like this all the time for phones, consoles, and such.

I said "reported" to be better
that is the obvious part here that I was sarcastically being surprised at
Whether the next iPhone is better or not remains to be seen. October is not that far away.

You mean worse specs than the S3?
The S2 has lower resolution than the iPhone 4S.
And all iPhones have worse specs because they never need good specs to have spectacular performance. An 800mhz dual core processor with 512mb of ram is not that great, but it is enough for the 4S.
Techcrunch confirmed the new connector port or whatever today as well

Er, 640x980 is worse than 720x1280...?
S2 has a 800 by 480 resolution.

Unless you are talking about the S3, the Nexus or possibly a 720p S2 variant of some sort? Or the galaxy Note?

how about them miniusb industry standard connectors hm
HM
seriously it's fucking retarded to see both people defending the old connector and bitching about miniusb "not having the same functionality" or "not locking into the device"
hell you'd imagine if the connector is now 1/3rd the size they could stick a miniusb connector next to it or something.
I really hope converting these to the other one takes an active signal converter so it screws accessory companies over

It's the LTE version, I just did a quick scan for resolution on the wikipedia page and didn't note that, for some reason the only resolution on the wikipedia page is the LTE version.
Fact is the iPhone 5 probably will have some nicer features, but phones always leapfrog each other so it's just progress.

When people talk about the S2 or S3, etc. there is never any talk about the variants. Things get confusing, otherwise.

Yeah, I didn't mean to - like I said, it's the only resolution listed on the wikipedia page other than the camera. So it's just the screen in general that's better on the 4S than the S2.
the thing you have to remember with screens as small as smart phone screens is that the human eye can only see up to a certain DPI, past that it becomes indistinguishable, meaning the smaller the screen, the lower the resolution it must be to have a very high quality picture
So... which Android 4.0 features is it going to rip off this time around?
I bet it's going to look exactly like the iPhone 4S, with new specs (quad core, more RAM, maybe a 4" screen,...), and one gimmick they will announce as 'revolutionary'. And then every Apple fan will buy it.

D'ohboy! A brand new proprietary connector to completely replace all other connectors before it on a phone that can be compared to a CoD expansion for phones. What a dick move, you literally have to buy new everything for it now.

No it isn't. It's listed right on the right with all the summarised information.
