Star Wars fans around the world are coming together on the internet to construct a real-life version of the film's Millennium Falcon spacecraft. Conceived by a US fan in Nashville, Tennessee, the Full Scale Millennium Falcon Project aims to use the internet to crowd-source efforts to build the famous ship, which will be adorned with all the trimmings aside from a working engine. With the help of an intricately designed 3D model created by college student Stinson Lenz, a project contributor in Alabama has already erected the console of the craft as well as one of its two laser guns. Project founder Chris Lee has purchased an 88-acre (35-hectare) plot of land in Tennessee on which the ship will sit. He intends to use the "fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy" as a place to hold workshops for students who wish to learn to weld, paint or build. The BBC's Matt Danzico visited Mr Lee in Tennessee and another contributor, Greg Dietrich, in Alabama.
Watch the video: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20536090
Awesome.
I hope it works

what happened to the plans to build a full sized enterprise
Bet it won't be able to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs
Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes?
what happened to the plans to build a full sized enterprise
Still around, just not going anywhere for a long time.
Bet it won't be able to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs
Even though a parsec is a unit of distance and not time. Silly Lucas.
Even though a parsec is a unit of distance and not time. Silly Lucas.
Technically it could be okay assuming he found a new route that was less than twelve parsecs long [editline]4th December 2012[/editline] heh i was right some nerdes "Solo was not referring directly to his ship's speed when he made this claim. Instead, he was referring to the shorter route he was able to travel by skirting the nearby Maw black hole cluster, thus making the run in under the standard distance. By moving closer to the black holes, Solo managed to cut the distance down to about 11.5 parsecs."

Hmm...Interesting, I'd love to see how this turns out!
Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes?
Illinois Nazis? I HATE Illinois Nazis!
next on the list: life sized star destroyer
This started like several years ago. Why the heck is this still news?
BREAKING NEWS: TENNESSEE MAN PURCHASES 88 ACRES TO BUILD MILLENNIUM FALCON REPLICA, WILL ALSO USE LAND FOR NOT TOUCHING VAGINAS EVER
BREAKING NEWS: TENNESSEE MAN PURCHASES 88 ACRES TO BUILD MILLENNIUM FALCON REPLICA, WILL ALSO USE LAND FOR NOT TOUCHING VAGINAS EVER
Somebody with a hobby is a lifeless sociopath, fact.

But that's just what I heard.
Has anybody made a full-size Serenity mock-up?
Even though a parsec is a unit of distance and not time. Silly Lucas.
Silly sltungle. The Kessel Run is a system surrounded by black holes that smugglers commonly use as a shortcut. The closer you get to the black holes, the faster you can make the run. Han Solo Made the shortest run through kessel.
BREAKING NEWS: TENNESSEE MAN PURCHASES 88 ACRES TO BUILD MILLENNIUM FALCON REPLICA, WILL ALSO USE LAND FOR NOT TOUCHING VAGINAS EVER
I don't know, plenty of nerdy girls I'm friends with would be pretty impressed by a guy who has something like this.
next on the list: life sized death star
Now you're speaking my language.
BREAKING NEWS: TENNESSEE MAN PURCHASES 88 ACRES TO BUILD MILLENNIUM FALCON REPLICA, WILL ALSO USE LAND FOR NOT TOUCHING VAGINAS EVER
Yeah but when you have a life sized millennium falcon you just wouldn't care
next on the list: life sized star destroyer
Reminds me of this article on building the death star. http://www.centives.net/S/2012/how-much-would-it-cost-to-build-the-death-star/
Oh, and the cost of the steel alone? At 2012 prices, about $852,000,000,000,000,000. Or roughly 13,000 times the world's GDP.
I thought the whole parsec thing was Han trying to sound super-cool to an old man and a kid by saying tecno-babble stuff to justify charging them a shit ton of money
