Been loving her since she dropped. She has a lot of character to her, the perk deck is lovely for stealth, and the Queen's Wrath is probably my new favorite rifle.
"Dublin Police Dept." God I keep laughing every time I look at that. EDIT: Oh yeah shoulda said why, they're called the Gardai over here.
My first thought upon reading the title was "Bilbo Baggins??"
I'm glad i'm not the only one cringing at that.
Even I know that. It's just cute with how much optimism and simplicity Overkill works and researches.
this article is not what I'd exactly call accurate :v:
So... What? She's Hoxtons waifu?
Been waiting for Payday 2 to go on sale for a while. I was really disappointed in Payday 1 since every fucking map just turned into wave defense against the cops, and I expected it to be a little more involved than that.
Payday 2 isn't a lot different you know.

Payday 2 doesn't have "paywall." You can do whatever the fuck you want with what you want and generally be fine if you're good enough.

Although the amount of them is negligible anyway. As of yet there is no way to have a sniper rifle or a light machine gun without buying a DLC, and the standard unlock system is just plain broken so weapon mods require either obscene amounts of grinding or the mod courier DLC.
I'll speak clearly and openly about Payday 2 here. First of all, the Stealth system - you know, that thing that was completely optionnal and whatever you had on you didn't matter in the first game? You know, that thing that you needed skills and a bit of luck to achieve without relevance to how much you invested time into the game? Well, now in the second game, not only do you NEED to commit to stealth (That is, you need to buy the necessary skills to do it (Don't even try here, you need some of those skills to even try stealth), and you need the least concealment weapon with silencers), but you also never can do both. In payday 1, you screwed up Stealth, too bad, who cares, you can still use your big gun and go through plan B. In Payday 2, this is no longer possible. You fuck up your stealth, restart the entire Heist. You don't have the armor NOR the guns to get through it (Unless again, you get stealth focused skills). Stealth also allows you to "cheat" and finish an extremely hard heist without the extremely hard elements. That is, you have the "Death wish" difficulty that makes ennemies super hard to kill and super powerful, but in stealth? Who cares, you ain't going to be shooting anyways. This means that using stealth gives you bigger rewards you don't really deserve. Next up, the gun mods. Now, Payday 2 became much more like borderlands than Payday 1 in the second iteration. Everything has stats, every skills alter those stats, and mods also alter those stats. Some of these mods can make some guns completely better than the first iteration. That wouldn't be that bad if you could just plug whatever mods you wanted in there, but oh no no, let me tell you about the card system. Now you know, since Payday 2 is literally a needy attention whore who needs you to dedicate absurd amount of time in it to actually be able to do something useful, you have to grind for everything. But the worst part, the worst fucking part is those god damn cards. In the first Payday, you finished a heist, you got your XP, and you were free to do the next. Now then, payday 2 , you finish a heist, you get your general XP and money, but you also get to pick a card. Now, these cards are COMPLETELY ABSOLUTELY Random. They can give you anything from useless cosmetic A, useless cosmetic B, useless cosmetic C, some money, and those mods. And then, when you get a mod, well congratulations, hope that it's one that fits you guns (There's literally over 50 guns, some with compatible mods, and many with their own. Good luck finding what you want). All of this combined turned Payday 2 into a "Specialized Heist Grinding" game. You have the heist that last 2:30 to get your cards, You have the heist that gives you the most XP, and you have the heist that gives you the most cash. Thankfully, with the release of their Hoxton Breakout Heist, The two latter are reunited in one. But you still need to do the same fucking short heist 50 times to get the mods you want (And that's being generous). Now, I played my fair amount of Payday 2, and this is mostly my direct opinion on the game. Some people will defend it to their dying bed, but myself, the grinding element just destroys the game for me. The fact that you have to do the same god damn heist because all the other heists are not worthwhile is such a shame. TL;DR : Stealth is a grindwall, Mods are a grindwall, Skills are a grindwall, Heist are specialized and I don't like the game very much for what it became. The game should also be called "Paydaylands: The card game".
Has Payday 2 been on the Steam sale main page yet?

I know I'm gonna get shit on for playing offline in a multiplayer co-op game but fuck it, sometimes you just wanna play without anyone else. Like, why have it at all if it's just gonna be half-assed and when they obviously want you to not play offline.

How's that for half assed.
On that Quote, in offline mode, if you get downed, the AI won't even try to help you up. How's that for half assed.
I've had the AI fail to activate entirely, the bots spawned and just stood in position for the entire heist.
I've had the AI fail to activate entirely, the bots spawned and just stood in position for the entire heist.
I've had this before, where they mask up but stand around smoking. Usually if you shout at them it fixes the issue.
On that Quote, in offline mode, if you get downed, the AI won't even try to help you up. How's that for half assed.
See, I don't get that often but the REAL problem is that's all they are capable of fucking doing. Shooting and helping you up (when they feel like it) when you get downed. They literally can't do anything else, can't pick-up anything, can't open anything, and you can't even give then any orders beyond shouting at them to come to you. It's frustrating as all hell but the devs obviously couldn't give a single fuck. They are quite content with just throwing gun and mod DLC at the game and calling it a day. I really really want to like the game but I can't because playing offline is the single most frustrating thing I've ever experienced while gaming.
The guns that were given out for free are statistically inferior to either the paid ones or sometimes even the ones that were available on release.
Like, why have it at all if it's just gonna be half-assed and when they obviously want you to not play offline.
That's a shitty sentiment, IMO. They made it, they knew it was crappy, and yeah, the best action would have been 'fix it...' But releasing it as-is is still a better choice than removing it. The AI itself is going to be in the game either way, so that there's something to take over when players leave mid-game, so why NOT let you play offline with it? It works fine if all you want to do is test a gun on Four Stores or something like that, so it isn't entirely useless. If something isn't entirely useless, I say leave it in.
I still think Evil Geniuses ruined the game in beta. These "Pros" decided it was too easy unless the cops had super aimbot skills. They are actually "professional" players. Professionals at a co-op game.
But releasing it as-is is still a better choice than removing it.
I highly disagree in this case.
The AI itself is going to be in the game either way, so that there's something to take over when players leave mid-game, so why NOT let you play offline with it?
What AI? It's some of the most brain dead and useless AI I've ever seen. They can't even pick up fucking loot bags! In a game that basically revolves around the damn mechanic!
It works fine if all you want to do is test a gun on Four Stores or something like that, so it isn't entirely useless. If something isn't entirely useless, I say leave it in.
That sounds pretty fucking useless to me. You could just as easily start an empty lobby and do that.
Wasn't the shitty ai because they originally weren't going to have any bots and Overkill added the shit as an afterthought and haven't thought about offline ever again?
You guys are forgetting the fuckhuge desyncs that often happens.
You guys are forgetting the fuckhuge desyncs that often happens.
Yeah, I fucking love when the people I'm playing with start teleporting in circles. The I get spotted by a guard several hundred meters away through multiple walls or floors.
Was the happening early in the games post-realease few months? Cause as far as i know, i didnt have em back then.
