Project Fiona
Well, Razer has really outdone themselves again. Ready for another expensive gimmick? Right now, the only information avaliable about it is on Razer's website, and what they have said at their CES presentation earlier today.
What is it?

Project Fiona Concept Tablet runs a PC environment on a powerful next generation Intel processor ready to play all of your favorite PC games. This tablet concept is running advanced applications on an ultra portable form factor, bringing hardcore PC gaming on the go.

Project Fiona redefines how you control your tablet. Engineered with intuitive game controllers attached on both sides of the multi-touch display this tablet offers the ultimate tablet gaming experience. Other tablets force you to use touchscreens and accelerometers for gaming which is great for casual gaming but impossible for hardcore PC gaming. This constrains you to casual games that can be played with limited navigation and control capabilities. Adapted from a full featured PC gamepad, Project Fiona's integrated dual controllers coupled with its advanced multi-touch screen are designed to make complex game navigation ergonomic and intuitive without compromising on the portability of the tablet. You'll be able to carry out headshots and command troops in-game with ease. This first-of-its-kind PC gaming tablet with integrated dual controllers is definitely not for playing casual games about unhappy birds or zombie-killing flora.

Tech Specs
Hybrid user interface for PC gaming Intel® Core™ i7 10.1" 1280x800 display Full-screen user interface supporting multi-touch 3-axis gyro, magnetometer, accelerometer Force feedback Dolby® 7.1 surround sound WiFi 802.11b/g/n Bluetooth® 3.0 It will be Windows 8 based, which was a pretty obvious move
Media

Estimated Price/Release

Price: Estimated below USD $1,000 Availability: Actual product shipping Q4 2012
I personally think this is insulting to PC gaming. I don't know of anyone who would seriously consider buying this.
I have a leaked prototype of that
Tablet with i7 and it's supposed to run games? Hello 30-minute battery life.
Very nice, but i dont see annyone buying this for that price atm. This would be a nice addon when the tablets get more powerfull in the future (and your standard tablet can run games)
The GPU isn't listed in the specs, it's chunky and no more practical than a laptop + mouse, the battery life will surely be appauling, but most of all I just cannot see the market for this - who would buy it? Razer can have some high prices, but their mice, keyboards and headsets are pretty good products which IMO are worth buying to the right audience. This however, I don't know who would buy that.

Maybe after a couple generations of Intel's on-chip GPUs, those things can finally run games proper. In the end, 1280x800 isn't that many pixels.
It doesn't look like they've actually made one yet, all of the pictures in the gallery are 3D renders.
It doesn't look like they've actually made one yet, all of the pictures in the gallery are 3D renders.
It's still a concept, so like most of Razer's other products it will probably differ when it is released.
"Project Fiona is a concept device, actual product specs may vary."
and like the switchblade this will never see the store shelves
It's like a mutant PSP that's far too big to be used comfortably and far too small to prop up on a desk and use like a normal goddamned computer.
inb4 Powerful Intel HD Graphics
It's like a mutant PSP that's far too big to be used comfortably and far too small to prop up on a desk and use like a normal goddamned computer.
You've just described every tablet ever.
Woah, it does actually exist. I didn't expect them to actually make one and let people use it at CES. Hell, they didn't really let anyone show how crappy the Switchblade was, apparently they had a working unit but only a couple of guys got to use one.
Something tells me there's a PC under the desk and that's just streaming like the Onlive demo
Wow it looks so ugly. Also there's no way this is ever going to work, not unless every game gets special support for the controllers.
I wonder if Apple will sue them for "copying the Apple look and feel" of the iPad? Even if it's so damn ugly.
Something tells me there's a PC under the desk and that's just streaming like the Onlive demo
Like 343 studios did showing halo cea on that many full hd screens wall that some company made? Faking that the controller was connected to a xbox while it was a pc running the ridiculous resolution in the background.
The i7 wouldn't be a fully fledged CPU like on a desktop PC. Its slim so it must be an i7 Mobile Sandy Bridge one. It's a possibility. You never know. But downside is the heat-emitting from the device, how the hell can you keep it cool? Or is this like another OnLive device?
It'll likely be mobile ivy bridge for power consumption and IGP improvements.
Ooh lovely.
Yes because I play pc games to use a controller... Actually I do fly planes in BF3 with a controller but then it goes back on the floor when I land.
Yes because I play pc games to use a controller... Actually I do fly planes in BF3 with a controller but then it goes back on the floor when I land.
Any driving game or platformer game is better with a controller imo.
Any driving game or platformer game is better with a controller imo.
Play Microsoft Flight Simulator with a keyboard. Oh god. Its doable, but really weird.
So at this point it's just a powerful netbook with a touchscreen instead of a keyboard and two joysticks sticking out of it's sides. No thanks.
But don't you want to be a uber 1337 PC gaymer??
Fixed
Apparently it won the "People's Voice Best of CES award". What the hell?
